Hey fellas,

just picked up with 23 lariat, and I'm on the fence about what to do for the box,all my previous trucks I've had a spray in liner done, but they have been used trucks and usually the box is quite beat up.

This one is brand new and im getting a roll up cover, and I'm not hard on my trucks at all, mostly hauling cardboard boxes, so I'm curious to see what you all think.

A box liner is around 550.00 and a mat is around 300.00

I ended up getting the Ford rubber bed mat and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. If you bought that 2023 new you would have received enough points to get it for free (about $200).

Now you haul stuff that beats the side of the bed then the liner is better, but this mat is much nicer than I thought it would be. Good luck with your baby!

Get the best of both worlds - DualLiner. It combines a rubber floor mat with hard liners for the rest of the box. Hard to imagine anything being better, also made in USA. JMHO.

Always spray in.

I truly don't understand these people who never put at least some kind of liner in the bed.

What you want is a full BedRug. Turns your bed into the coolest trunk ever and the padding in between the corrugations saves your knees. I love mine.

I bought the Ford branded bed rug and I love it. I had a bullet liner on my '21 and was on the fence about how to cover the bed and the rug is awesome. I can crawl around in the bed without issues and it's easy enough to clean.

Trucks are made to be used but not abused. I'd go with a bed mat just so things don't slide around so much. As for the walls of the bed, read my first sentence. Just my opinion.

Which bed protection? There are several types and each have their advantages. They each have their disadvantages too. I could argue that bed protection is kind of silly, but that can be a whole other thread.

I'm a Bedrug guy. It's more than just looks, but looks is its best attribute. It's extremely comfortable too. Ideal for truck bed camping. It's a capable liner for my needs, but my truck is more sedan than work truck.

I have a spray in liner, but while it offers protection to the aluminum, it doesn't offer much friction to stop things from sliding around (this is a liner sprayed by the dealer, so maybe there are better options that have a grippier texture). I ended up getting a rubber bed mat as well.

I think it stems from the "olden days" of bed liners where it just held water under there and caused rust.

I did the Ford drop in liner. I love it. I bought the upper plugs seperately later, unfortunately they don’t come with so keep that in mind. At least mine didn’t. Grand total of 15 minutes to install this and the tailgate cover.

Check in to the bed rug, if you are going to do any crawling around back there it’s padded. Oil and water resistant it’s not carpet very durable but it’s depends on what you are going to do with your truck. just to give you and to look at all the options. They have the hole bed and they just have a mat version of it too. I have the ford mat and it’s nice . I’m going to add the bed rug to and mat on top. This is a oem ford mat.

I wound up getting a Line-X Platinum spray-in liner and putting a Ford branded rubber bed mat on top of it. This combination offers tons of protection and the rubber mat keeps things from sliding around easily. On the rare occasions where I want a slicker surface to slide heavy objects in and out of the bed more easily, I just remove the bed mat or lay down a sheet of cardboard. I definitely like this setup better than the plastic drop-in liner I had in my old truck.

Similar to JBMCEQY and SALEEN961, I use both. I've used both in my previous two trucks as well. I use my bed. A lot. The spray in liner is great for protection the sides but will offer less in terms proving a grippy texture to prevent things from sliding. The bed mat will help with sliding and provide a nice cushion against vibration and drops.

In reality, it just depends on how you use your truck. For instance, I could never imagine a bedrug in my truck. Sounds like a nightmare. A rubber mat alone may be fine for many applications. But if you have lots of loads that spill over onto the wheel wells and sides (i.e., firewood, stones, etc), spray in is very nice. If you don't want to spend the money on both bed mat and spray in, I would vote spray-in plus a ratcheting bed divider to prevent sliding.
