With vehicle prices the way they are going, we'll probably end up keeping ours for longer than normal - and by that, I mean making more repairs. The last 2 vehicles were factory orders and that's how we will buy vehicles going forward.

We currently have the following all from when they were new to now over 100,000 miles on each.

2016 BMW X3 35i
2014 BMW 335i
2008 Subaru Legacy GT

As we add more cars, the wear and tear on each one per year is expected to decrease and would hopefully allow them to last longer.

We definitely hold on to vehicles until a new need for certain capability arises.

I've had my 89 Mustang Notch since about 03 ish?!?! Trucks seem to come and go but this 22 I'll most likely keep awhile, maybe 5+ years.
I was on a every other year truck spree but I really like where I've got my 22 so far.

My 1st vehicle is the 06 Camry, it just keep on running. I still have it. My 23 PB is my 2nd vehicle and 1st truck, so I'm expecting it'll run longer and further than my 06 Camry, since it cost more than 3 time that of the 06 Camry. Or it's wistful thinking? I never sell or buy used vehicles.
Ha! My 1st new vehicle was an 07 Camry that I still have. My 22 PB is also my 2nd new vehicle, and 1st truck!

Camry has 215K on the odometer, and still running smoothly. I should be able to get to 300K, and basically keep it forever.

I’ve been babying my 22 PB: PPF wrap, oil changes at 5K, wheel well liners, and applying corrosion protection on emerging rust. If this 2.5 gen 3.5L Ecoboost engine has all the previous issues resolved (lack of port injection causing carbon build-up, failing VCT Phasers causing cold start rattling) this truck should get well over 200K as well.

well....... I kept a family Suburban for 30 years and many, many miles. There is no reason you cannot make one of these last. You have to think in terms of periodic maintenance, good lubricants and good filtration... And of course driving in a manner that avoids collisions... :)

Good question. Its going to be a very hard truck to say goodbye to. Primarily because what are newer trucks going to look like, run like in say ten years and 150k?

That doesn't even consider cost of a new truck. Anyone for an XLT or STX costing $120k?

So if we pay more for things they last longer? I had Michelin 275/40ZR18's on my '02 CL55 AMG that lasted as long as a #2 pencil eraser

Haha, you must be young and don’t remember the 80’s. That was the worst decade in automotive history. Everything was depowered, the diesels were converted v8s, the paint was pealing of in sheets, lucky to get 50k out of a tranny, every dash cracked after 5yrs, and you made sure you got rid of the vehicles at 50k……worst case 60k because the values dropped like a rock after that. That’s when the Japanese came in and took over and why American vehicles are soooo much better today. In the 80’s you were lucky to get 100k on the odometer without major problems. Today you can drive any vehicle of any make 200k without major issues.
Well, 38 here, so fairly young I suppose lol. I've had a few mid to late 80's vehicles(all well used of course), and I will definitely agree with you on all of that lol. I think what concerns me most is the technology that is being stuffed into everything, some of it is good to be honest, but it's also a real pain to repair for the average DIYer when things do fail. Maybe it's just my perception, but for what these things cost now, I wish they'd last forever lol. Plan on keeping mine for as long as possible, it's one of the best vehicles I've owned so far!

I understand. The good and bad, as it relates to technology, is that if it’s going to fail it generally happens in the first 6 months. Make it past 6 months and you should be in the clear since it’s not a wear item. Updates are a different animal…lol

This is my concern when I order my new 2025. Since Ford made the digital cluster standard, it's one less mechanical analog basic feature and is now integrated into the brains of the truck. What the heck do you do if your digital cluster fails and the truck is 12 years old?

That's the kind of crap that I'm leery of personally.

Never. The trade in value they give you or try to give you is an embarrassment.

Most recently, (April. 2023), looked to trade in my 2015 F150 Plat with 112k miles (still under Ford ESP warranty also). $29k and $30,500 offers. CarMax and Mike White Ford in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho are jokes.

Sold it for $38k.
