I've often wondered, with all of this "planned obsolescence" how many of us plan on keeping our trucks long term?(like 10+ years) I tend to stick with things I like, but it seems like it's getting harder to do these days with the way vehicles are literally made to fail after the warranty expires it seems. Am I in the minority here? Just curious...

So far I've had my '04 since I was 17. That is pushing 16 years of ownership next year. Will never sell it. Also have an '07 Mustang GT that I will never sell.

Will be ordering a 2025, and plan to have that one until it makes no sense. Hoping for 15 to 20 years out of it but the tech concerns me. Will be ordering an STX 5.0 SuperCrew two-wheel drive .... it will have less moving parts which is a plus. My length of ownership is exactly why I finally decided to just buy new. Especially if your anal about maintenance, you end up spending a ton of money to bring it up to your standards to avoid failures with old hoses, belts, fluids etc.

I kept my last truck for 22 yrs. and if not for some new towing needs, would still be happily driving it.

The 2 before that, I kept till 300K miles (I drove a lot back then).

This new one, who knows? Until my needs change, or the truck's reliability warrants it.

Because of all the tech. involved, at some point, I'll likely buy a extended warranty.

So far I have owned:

1 - 1987 Chevy S-10
2 - 1999 Ford Ranger
3 - 2009 Toyota Tacoma
4 - 2022 Ford F-150 PB

I keep them at least 10 years.

I plan on continuing to use my PB as a daily driver for now and as our primary adventure vehicle. Whether it be by itself or when pulling a TT or boat, I hope to rack up many wonderful miles with it. I think 5 years of daily duty, then after retirement as a wonderful do it all truck when I don't want to scratch my CT lol...so 10 years minimum.

Haha, you must be young and don’t remember the 80’s. That was the worst decade in automotive history. Everything was depowered, the diesels were converted v8s, the paint was pealing of in sheets, lucky to get 50k out of a tranny, every dash cracked after 5yrs, and you made sure you got rid of the vehicles at 50k……worst case 60k because the values dropped like a rock after that. That’s when the Japanese came in and took over and why American vehicles are soooo much better today. In the 80’s you were lucky to get 100k on the odometer without major problems. Today you can drive any vehicle of any make 200k without major issues.

I've always bought F-150 Platinums. Considering the pathetic changes in 2024 with the removal of the appliqué and the introduction of letters on the hood I probably won't buy another F-150 until the next full generation comes around and they make some changes.

I've had my 2014 F-150 that I purchased new for nearly 10 years and I plan to replace it with a new 2024 F-150 or Tundra that I will also keep for 10 years.

My 1st vehicle is the 06 Camry, it just keep on running. I still have it. My 23 PB is my 2nd vehicle and 1st truck, so I'm expecting it'll run longer and further than my 06 Camry, since it cost more than 3 time that of the 06 Camry. Or it's wistful thinking? I never sell or buy used vehicles.

I love the appliqué as well. I’d take our tailgate over the new one for sure.

My '22 502A has 100k/10 year warranty ESP. That is the plan. If gas breaks five bucks a gallon plan B is electric. I said that two years ago thinking it was going to match up with the ten year warranty. Gas is about double what it was when i orderd the truck in november 21....

I still own my 1998 Ranger, though it's starting to show its age in the last few years. It's held up remarkably well for being parked outside for the last 25 years. The paint is finally starting to break down in a few spots, but otherwise is in decent shape.

I purchased the extended warranty out to 10 years on my F150, so I expect to hold it at least that long. Probably much longer, unless my towing needs change significantly.

Kept my 2016 F150 Ecoboost for 6 years. Sold it after 100k trouble free miles. I plan to keep my new 22 for at least 8 years and possibly hand over to my son when he starts driving at that time. Or might keep it and get him something else.
