Mid cycle refresh?..

More like mid cycle De-fresh!!!

3.3 gone, HDPP gone, XLT regular cab gone, XL Powerboost gone and 4x4 mandatory for PB trucks with the cheapest PB now tickling $60K.

But you get the new multi function Honda Ridgeline tailgate and the shitty 36 gallon tank that will run dry on a slope or in a roundabout with as much as a quarter tank of fuel left.

At least Toyota stuck with offerings for the working man and still have a decent selection of basic trucks with the Tacoma and even kept a manual transmission option.

Ford isn’t learning anything from the past and while there’s still plenty who will want the loaded trucks, many will bail on owning a new F-150; not because they don’t want one but because they can’t afford one.

The Ranger is overpriced for what it is and the Maverick has been bumped up 25% over its original price.

No wonder 20 year old work trucks in decent condition are going for $5K to $10K around where I am.

2023 F-150 STX 5.0L V8
A few things I've noticed: 5.0 not available in King Ranch and Platinum. King Ranch only available with 6.5' bed? Platinum not available with dual exhaust. 4x4 is standard on Lariat and up? KR comes standard with HUD but Platinum does not. Losing Azure Gray and Stone Gray colors, gaining Darkened Bronze. KR only available with 2 tone paint (no more chrome package). No more tailgate appliqué on KR and Platinum. Limited replaced with Platinum Plus. Lariat BAP loses Tremor hood. No more Lariat Sport. STX standalone trim replaces Rattler. I don't see the bed extender option or the upgraded tailgate option. No word on Tremor with Lariat headlights. No word on Lobo trim.
Copied from build and price thread:

No more 3.5 EcoBoost or PowerBoost available on XL or STX. Tremor once again comes with the 5.0L V8 as well. However you can no longer get a V8 King Ranch or Platinum just as you can no longer get a 3.5 EcoBoost XL or STX.

Also, 2.7 is no longer available for Lariat and is barred to XLT and below as 5.0 is standard equipment for Lariat. Looks like Ford will be ramping up 3.5 EcoBoost and 5.0 V8 production with this new product structure. The 3.3 and 2.7 were sort of cannibalized here.

Tow pack now requires the 5.0 V8 and deletes the 2.7. 2.7 can not be had with a trailer brake controller either. Trucks with the 2.7 will be very limited- only base low trim trucks with no tow pack. 70%+ are likely going to be 5.0 and 3.5 here on out to streamline production.

2018 Volvo XC60 and 23' Tremor 5.0 ordered.
I’m liking what’s being offered. Seems like a great step to making thing more streamlined and reduction in parts overall.

Anyone have a picture of the Tremor without the winch?

-Lariat BAP looses tremor hood
-Lariat does not have the new tailgate as an option but tremor does?
-XLT-down front ends are ugly IMO
-Have to spend extra on a wireless chargers and 2nd row heated seats just to get foldable, lockable storage under the rear seat…

VERY disappointing

Hyundai Tucson, Ford Maverick on order
Not only did they not add push-button start and auto climate control to the STX like I was hoping, they removed the hybrid option! Oh well, see you all on f150gen15.com...

2022 F150 KingRanch Powerboost
I wasn't expecting anything threatening my holding onto my 2022 KingRanch Powerboost, other than a new Hybrid Bombshell which would have required it to be something that out-PowerBoosted the Powerboost.

Alas. Not happening. Yet anyways.

However..............
Jesse, I assure you that I am in no hurry, but I am going to expect you to figure out a couple of things next year. If you know what I mean? ??

Here's something that's driving me insane.
6.5' bed with super crew cab, can't get BAP package and there's is no sport package for XLT or Lariat. You're forced to get chrome bumpers and trims, get the 5.5' bed, or go into king ranch or platinum to get rid of chrome... ?

2022 Lariat SuperCab and 2005 XLT SuperCab
Occupation
retired!
Welp, all I can say is thank goodness I bought a Lariat SuperCab 500A in 2022 built to my dream spec (see spec in sig block below). A keeper for sure! (y)

Did the B&P for a '24 XLT SuperCab trying for 'closest match'
  • no leather (personal preference)
  • no tan interior (strong personal preference)
  • ESOF instead of TOD transfer case (no 4A)
  • no full-power tailgate (I actually use it and love it when hitching my 5th-wheel RV)
  • No power fold/extend on the TT mirrors
  • Total MSRP = $57,990 (mine was $57,975)
Just for grins did B&P for a '24 Lariat SuperCrew trying for 'closest match'
  • no SuperCab (very strong personal preference)
  • no tan interior (strong personal preference)
  • 20" wheels (very strong personal preference for 18")
  • several items I have negative desire for (e.g. B&O, power tilt steering wheel, trailer scales)
  • On the + side, it does have LED projectors with bending that I don't have
  • Total MSRP = $70,925 (mine was $57,975)
A number of other misc differences, I definitely feel the options list is more concise for the XLT and Lariat (hope that works out for Ford). I'm sure folks will enjoy the heck out of the '24, hope Ford sells a bunch of 'em.

But again, as in '23, I can't configure my dream truck at any price, so I'll pass, feeling lucky with no regrets whatsoever. :)

YMMV, No Worries! ;)

Same here, but nothing would make me sell my ‘23 :D. Only thing Ford could have done that would have got me into the dealer showroom was offer a hybrid 5.0L. I’d take that for a test drive, but I’m perfectly happy with my ‘23 and plan to run it until 200k or so. At that time fingers crossed the Lightning EV is good enough for me to buy. If it not they better have an another regular or hybrid V8 waiting for me to purchase :). It’s V8 or EV for me, no in between. I do actually like the new optional tailgate, it’s getting a lot of hate but I think it pretty rad.

The new grille on XL and XLT is a big NO from me. My ‘23 STX looks much more fancy than the new one with my 20” wheels and paint to match grille/bumpers. The Lariat and above are much nicer, they did well on those for you high trim bros.
I’m with you on he tailgate. Over on the YouTube channels, I‘m seeing so many in the comment section who are just absolutely repulsed by that tailgate…. Why?????? It allows people to reach in the bed further without having to climb up, especially if you got nicer clothes on.

I guess you can only change but so much when you've laid off your engineers. Really hate the tailgate and light changes.

I'm somewhat surprised there's no new hybrid. The 2.7 being a base engine is a good move I didn't really see. The 3.3 was so bulletproof and fit the majority of fleet users so well. Kinda wish I did the 3.3 myself. If this 2.7 gives me issues down the line I'll be looking for a 3.3.
Any fleets that factored resell into their purchase were already buying the 2.7 or 3.5

Did they get rid of the 30 gallon gas tank for the powerboost and forcing the standard 23 gallon tank with no option to get the 36 gallon tank?!?!
