Hey all! I’ve had my F150 for about two weeks now and I’m loving it. Traded in my ‘18 Titan Crew Cab for a ‘23 F150 XLT SCrew. I did have a few, potentially dumb, questions that I can’t really find answers to and figured you guys may be able to help!

- sometimes when I remote start, the seat heaters turn on. It’s not every time and I’m not sure why it does it as I can’t find any settings anywhere to change it.

- sometimes when I put it in park, the parking brake automatically engages. It’s not all the time and it doesn’t seem to be based on if I’m parked on a hill or not. Same thing, can’t find a setting to change that anywhere.

- what city is on the plastic part above the window controls on the door? I assume it’s either Detroit or Deerborn? Just curious, it’s a cool little detail.

looking forward to getting more into this thing! Already have 1,400 miles on it.

I just got my truck, so have been rummaging around learning about it. Somewhere in your sync system, are switches dealing with the seat heating and ventilation (if equipped), to turn them on or not, when remote started.

I'd guess it would be in settings, somewhere.

in the vehicle setting in the remote start window .. there is a setting for seats in AUTO or last IIRC
also it has the setting for climate auto or last

auto park brake if you open door and truck is in gear, .
if you jump out while truck is not in park it will also shift to park at least on center console shifters and i Ass ume it does this for columns as well as there are no cables, its all electric shift
you can also change it to auto hold or not in the vehicle menu
under driver assistance

on your ford owner login page at ford.com you can download and view all the owners books for the truck.
the city... i have no idea

This is auto climate seats - I believe it's configurable in screen options, it's certainly mod'd w/ forscan. It's good in the extreme temps but sucks for mild weather. Somewhere in the mid 60s there's a line where it's either heating or cooling. I need to look into the logic more to tailor it.

If the door is open in gear it will auto park and put on the brake, it will also apply the brake when parked on a hill.

Sounds like others have answered the first question.

For the second one, in addition to what was said above, if you're hooked up to a trailer, I believe that it'll automatically turn on the parking brake when you put it in park.

For the third one, if I recall correctly, that's a historic map of Detroit. It only appears on one trim line (XLT? STX?), and it's not on the Lariat, so I don't have the image to verify--I just recall seeing photos. There was a thread on here about a year ago about easter eggs that you might be able to search and find out more. There's also the hidden American flags on the dash near the A-pillars.

makes sense. It’d be nice if there was a way to change the temp limit for the auto seats. I’ll probably just turn it off for now and re-engage it when winter comes if needed.

As far as the brake goes, What is weird to me is that it’ll kick on when parking at my office which is generally flat, but not at my parents house where the driveway is pretty steep. Doesn’t really bother me either way as I like to use the parking brake a lot, just wondering why it seems to kick on in places that don’t make a lot of sense sometimes. I wish it could be configured to be always on or always off.

Is there a way to have the parking brake automatically apply every time the car is turned off?

I hate the parking brake design and location, but I think it might be necessary to use it unfortunately. I park it on the slightest hill-like a 1-2% grade. When I shift it from park to drive, it makes a huge clunk occasionally if I didn't use the parking brake. Pretty sure that can't be good right?

Around 50% of the time my parking brake turns itself on because the truck rolls forward or backwards after I put it in park until the pawl goes into place on slopes. It’s actually smart enough to know in most instances. Not sure if it bases it on the angle of the truck when parking or the roll factor.

I typically keep my foot on the brake, shift into Park, apply the eBrake, wait for it to engage, and then lift my foot off the brake pedal. Keeps my drivetrain tension free while not in use.

My Subaru has the eBrake just to the left of the gear selector and I prefer that location. Reaching under the dash because that’s where the old release used to be is just bad nostalgia. We are capable of finding the cool electronic emergency brake in a new and ergonomically friendly location.

Well the worst part is that it's PULL TO APPLY which is exactly the opposite of what my 2004 F150 is, which is pull to release. Such a bad oversight.

what i like is 4 different fords i have access to to drive
f150 pull to apply the lever
edge, step on a pedal on the floor to apply or release, i am forever opening the hood int eh edge, looking for brake release
moms maverick, a cute little pull up switch near the rotary shifter
fusion, cute little pull switch
it can drive you a bit nuts in rush (y)?
the bus is the best; press a BIG yellow knob down, but wait...you better have everythign else ready to move, as in DRIVE, doors closed, jacks up, wife in passenger seat, ant down, etc. or it flat will not budge and you sit there wondering WHY  are these beeps going off .
