You see, he’s just being deceptive. He know the real secret is to rub your beer/bourbon/whiskey belly in a CLOCKWISE motion while HUMMING kumbaya. At this point I can’t discern if the deciding factor is down to the alcohol belly of choice. The study continues…You're such a partypooping killjoy.
Lol... you are actively trying to discredit this method!Started my truck and let it run for 3 minutes, turned it off and locked it with the keypad and left the key inside and walked away. Soon as I did that, it started downloading the files. 3 minutes later, the files are downloaded and ready to install. 3 minutes later, the update installed and I am officially on 4.2.3 with my headlights on auto, the parking brake off, 1/4 tank of gas, not driving the vehicle, no battery charger, no sending feedback to Ford, and most importantly, no hopping on one leg while patting my head and rubbing my beer belly in a counterclockwise motion while singing kumbaya.

Yes, because I feel Ford's OTA team tells this to irate customers to get them off their backs. Gives people false hopes that this will make all the OTA problems go away.Lol... you are actively trying to discredit this method!
I wonder if this method works on older versions or software and once the GWM is updated it's not necessary.
See!!!Got 4.2.1 Saturday night 4/29 after nothing since Jan 30. Nothing special, lights on auto, never set brake. Got home tonight around 8 and parked same nothing different.
Found this tread so I thought I would walk out and try this, but when I went out to start the truck I saw the update symbol before I even got to try. 4.2.2 had downloaded.
I just turned truck off and walked back inside chuckling to myself that I was even going to try this when I've received all previous updates doing nothing special.
You didn't do anything wrong. That particular update has a very high fail rate. The truck will download most of the files it needs for the update, but towards the end of the file downloads, it often gets stuck trying to pull one of the last files it needs from Ford's servers.Personally I am just getting annoyed at this... I got sent 3.5.3 again for the 3rd time last week. When I saw it pop up, I tried driving around town for an hour so I would be in good cell service the whole time. I went home and I tried all these tricks, setting the brakes, turning off the lights and wifi. I even tried putting a battery charger on it to keep it topped up but no go.
So a few days later I had to go out of town for work, drove for 2 hours out of town, did the work and drove back, filled up the tank, did the same thing setting the brake and turning off the lights, and well still no go with the update.
Looks like it timed out again, so I don't know what more I could do to help the process, because after a 2 hour drive each way it should have had enough time to download the files and the battery should have been fully charged...
Did I ever run a VIN check on your truck? I remember you posting a while back that your dealer replaced your APIM. Has your truck ever gotten an OTA trigger since they did that?I have tried everything else so I will try this too. If it works, I will come back and praise the OP and if it doesn't, I will call BS as so many others have been.
No, they never replaced the APIM, all they did was run one of the customer satisfaction bulletins and I think I got one update after that. Now there has been nothing for months again. Cannot recall if you ever ran my VIN, someone did but that was at the start of all this, so it has been a while.Did I ever run a VIN check on your truck?
