... You are correct, Ford dropped the 18" wheels for 2023. I estimate that the larger wheels cost me around 40#. ... My reading found pros and cons for both 18" and 20" with regard to towing. ...
Can you expound on the pros and cons of 18" and 20" wheels for towing?

Other than the payload hit of the 20s, I haven't run across that yet.

Can you summarize, or point me in the direction of a thread for this?
I did not bookmark discussions.
Summary (as I recall)
Based on same diameter tire:
18” taller sidewalls- more comfortable ride, not as stable towing
20” shorter sidewalls- rougher ride, more stable towing.
Certainly, there are hundreds of wheel/tire options and I am no expert.
I think my tire is 2” taller than the 2022 offering and thus raised my truck a little.

Ok, that makes sense. I did see a youtube from a guy who tows a travel trailer with a 14th gen f150 say the tires were squishy. Not enough to do anything about it other than get something firmer when it was time to replace them but he did offer it as a criticism.

You can use the 2021 eSourcebook to help you dial in payload weights of various models. The 2021 version notably includes estimates for options, which the 2022 and 2023 versions didn’t include. Since Ford hasn’t significantly changed the trucks in those three model years, it should still be relatively accurate. I just posted that guidebook in this thead:

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/concerns-about-being-overloaded.16631/#post-328623
I read through the guidebook and didn't find reference to the 7.2kw inverter, vs 2.4kw. I skimmed through this entire thread again looking for that info but missed it if it's there. Can someone tell me the weight cost?

Hi, I've been reading this and all the other payload threads that I could find, in preparation of ordering a Powerboost, to tow a travel trailer. ... I've also done some in the field sticker collection and pouring through the options weight page in the ESource book, such as it is. ... The final touch, was finding EricR 's posts about his truck.

<snip>

So, at the moment, my order will be a Powerboost, Lariat 501a, SB, 4x4, trailer tow, 7.2KW, no tow mirrors (I'll use BLIS and cameras instead) 360 cameras and Nav.

This should come in, in the 1650 range and be plenty for my proposed tongue weight and enough left over for a bed mat, soft tanneau, my normal tools and running boards (if I need them).
Thanks for the detailed analysis and field work. Your order sounds like it suits my interests but I'd add the tow mirrors. (Do standard mirrors meet legal requirements about width of view?) I'll probably forego the step, as much as I like the one I have. The later add-ons raise the weight cost too high. I'd consider the 6.5' bed, as well.

I believe it was 12 or 13lbs. That's easy weight to give up for what you get

I honestly can't believe it's even an option. Seems strange for a Powerboost to have all the necessary components to be a Powerboost, yet an option to NOT have the 7.2KW inverter.

It's a revenue opportunity.

If there are legal requirements for tow mirrors, I'm unaware of them.
I was planning on this, to save weight, wind resistance etc.

The 5.5' bed will fit my garage better and be better as a daily driver but if it added to payload, rather than subtracted from it, I'd at least consider it.

Thanks. Yeah, that's cheap in #. Now I have to decide whether it's cheap enough in $.
A 7.5x kWh output pure sinewave inverter that works in hybrid mode? It's not even a question....

I'm under the impression that mirrors must be visible when viewing down the side of the trailer, from the back. If the mirrors are not visible from that location, that location is not visible from the mirrors.

That's not the only reason I like the tow mirrors. I like the big convex mirrors, too. Perhaps I could accomplish the same with add-ons but the ones I used on my old Durango were a PIA. Maybe there are better options for F-150s.

My 5.5' bed would fit better in my garage if I ever get rid of the crap in my garage. I'm not sure a 6.5' will fit at all. Realistically, as my SB has lived outside for 6 years, the inability to park a 6.5' is less of a penalty than I thought when I bought my current truck.

I don't doubt the $ value. I'm unsure of the $ value to me.
Well it's worth more than double its upgrade price to sell it. Quite a few regret not getting it. Haven't seen a single person say they wish they didn't. Take it FWIW.

Well. since you brought it up, I decided to look.
A quick search yielded this.
https://ecomodder.com/wiki/Mirror_Laws_by_State_(U.S.)

Only about halfway through the list but what standard there seems to be, is to be able to see 200' behind the vehicle but it doesn't always qualify what is to be seen.

If I have to put a couple of small bubbles on it to stay legal, so be it.

A professional truck driving friend, in fact, he teaches truck driving safety, has a 2021 with tow mirrors. Said they are overly big. A real PIA and cautioned against them.
