So I have a 2015 Plat that came with the FX4 package. It has somre pretty nice protection under the truck. My new 2022 also came with the FX4 package, it has a flimsy cardboard plate underneath. What else is part of the FX4 package? Better shocks or suspension? Definitely not a lift or better tires... What really makes it an offroad upgrade? So what is the $1005 FX4 addon? Kinda blows me away the MCS delete was a +$300 credit, but the FX4 cardboard cost -$1000??

Likely includes the locking rear axle which was a $420 stand-alone option for my STX, so there is almost half.

Ok that makes a little more sense. I always thought the rearend could be a la carte selected with FX4 just requiring the locking... and yes on my sticker I am not charged for the Locking 3.73.
The better shocks also makes sense but was told by a guy the shocks were the same as all others in its class... Thanks guys for clarifying.

Thanks. My truck came with it as did my previous 2015, but if I were to order a truck I wouldnt order that package I dont think. We have a very short dirt road to our lake place but I literally never go off road, I tow twice a year and never rock crawl, LOL.... and I usually buy Weathertech mats for the family, (We live in Pac NW and get alot of snow on our shoes)

FX4 options depend on trim. The powerboost for instance gets the least amount of benefits from a lot of the packages as it already comes with the hitch and 3.73s in 4WD. You can add hill descent button and option w/ forscan. That leaves the rubber mat upgrade and a pathetic skid plate for $1k.

I think it is worth it if you go off the beaten path hunting etc, for me I just wanted the locking axle so I didn’t really look at the FX4 trucks that were on the lot. I deal with deep Buffalo NY snow, launching my boat at the ramp, and occasionally off roading at the cabin but they are just seasonal mud roads. I decided I didn’t need the skid plates but the locker was a requirement for me. If you don’t see severe off roading I’d just order the locker a la carte and call it a day. The oil changes were a pain in the butt with the older FX4 too, not sure if the skid plate still sits in the way, I’m sure someone can chime in on that.

Im with ya... boat to the lake in the spring, home in the fall... also the jetskis but they are nothing to tow.
Even with Locking Diff, I dont really use that... just 4A. Of course we are no where close to Buffalo snow so I can see the need over there.

Thats what the Fumoto oil drain valve is for (or on the older 3.5 with the stupid composite pan and the plastic yellow drain plug - the Ronin drain plug)

I honestly think that's half of it for some people.
My 2015 I pulled the FX4 stickers off. Prefer a cleaner look to the truck.
