I also found that if the door is not closed tight, the truck doesn't do the double honk.

Don't you love how it waits a second or two 'til you are just past the front of the truck ... so the honk honk hits you the loudest.

Exactly, for this scenario where you're in your driveway/garage and just running in briefly, easiest is just shut the door BUT not all the way (it will look almost like it is shut, just sticking out maybe 1/4").

For the times you want to run in a store and need to have it lock, then either put up with double honk, or eliminate with aftermarket or ForScan.

Why not shut it off then just remote start it while you run in?

Yup. Hits me like a bolt of lightning. And then I go back inside for a fresh pair of shorts.

Another simple thing you can do is crank it up, toss your keys in the back seat, hop out and close front door as usual, then open your rear door and grab your keys. Sounds a bit crazy, but it works.

Can you lock the doors with the door keypad, while the truck is running with the key inside? And then come back and unlock the running truck with the keypad or the app?

Sounds like buddy doesn't understand what happens when he starts the truck with remote start vs app on phone vs regular start in truck and walking away with key in pocket.
