Without firing shots back concerning Windows, any IT information that you have which is valuable, keep at least two copies. For instance, save the file to the hard drive and a USB drive. Or save a copy to a cloud account. If you're really paranoid, have three copies. That way, you always have access.
Personally, I work in Windows, multiple versions of Linux, and IBM mainframe. If you want dependability, nothing beats big iron! It does cost a tad more than a Windows laptop however ...
Yup, good advice. I was overtired and low on synapsis power when I posted that. The confusion I was having was related to backing up modules, which I hadn't done before, simply because I was only changing one line here or there. It all makes sense now, and I will be sure to do that before I install new modules in my vehicle.

I did not even mean to bring in Windows related discussion, it just happed. I apologize for the off topic banter.

Good to know. That looks like the right steering wheel wires for the heat and makes sense its the SCCM pins that aren't there as that's what has been on backorder here recently.
Brings up a few questions specifically for 2023 owners looking to do this retrofit whos vehicle is supposed to have the heated wheel.

-Do the raptors and limited/lariat 502s also have wheels with the heating element just no heat clock spring?
-Is there is something particular about the platinum wheel that ford wouldn't source a separate version without the heat element for just platinums?
-Or even more annoying, is it is hit or miss, some have wheels with the heat element some don't, someone looking to do this "upgrade" wont even know until they pull the airbag.

Valid questions and at this point I think it's all up in the air. I'm surprised honestly the 23 in a few posts back had the correct steering wheel, just not the clock spring. Figured Ford would just nix the whole thing versus parts of it, but they seem to change how they do it all the time. I would imagine at this point they'd just stick with one wheel for the platinums that have heat, or two really, one for normal steering and one for adaptive but both have heat so besides the point here. At this point would just have to pop the airbag off and see what wheel each 23 has then go from there.

I just got a 23 platinum and I have to do all this with the HVAC and the heated steering wheel the program in the HVAC to work. Sounds a little confusing to me maybe because I don’t have forscan in front of me I’ve used it in the past was not bad, I had to have a brand new HVAC I’m getting a heated steering wheel and I’m going to remove the airbag to see if I need to buy a new clock spring but I’m not sure step-by-step how to program all of these things I know it’s in threads and on the forscan sheet but I need to see step-by-step.

Another member with a 23 platinum mentioned that the steering wheel is already the heated version, but I believe he didn’t have the connectors in the SCCM. Just make sure you double check the steering wheel before buying a new one

I just took off the airbag and snapped a few photos. I believe I do have a heated steering wheel clock spring and SCCM not sure.

Pull the connector circled in green and see if there are 4 pins in there or not. If there are 4 pins, you have the correct SCCM, if not, you'll need to get a new one or a new clockspring

Picking up my 23 Plat next week and want to do the same thing. Already have the new HVAC. Please update as much as possible with photos if you can, because I'm sure I'm going to run into the same issues as you. Good luck.

So if there are 4 pins it's as simple as the new HVAC unit and forescan? 4 pins means the correct wheel, sccm and clockspring?

Maybe. There would also have to be a harness connected on the backside of the SCCM where the steering wheel heat connects. My bet is there are no pins in the SCCM and that is the “chip” making this feature deleted at build since there are tons of HVAC units for available with the button.

Have to take the airbag out and disconnect the heating harness and see if the pins are in the SCCM, and then look on the backside of the SCCM to see if there is a harness connected. Look up where people with 21-22 who got an XLT without a heated wheel added it. Threads showing how to do it and will be the same steps.

Not quite. That was strictly in reference to the SCCM. You still have to run the power and ground off the backside of the SCCM

Got my heated steering wheel working today. Big shoutout to @JHForman812 the dude helped me out tremendously today
Excellent news! Glad you got it all sorted out.

I am in a holding pattern, waiting for everything to show up, then I will slap it all in.
