It’s a common error many of us made once before too. Live and learn. One helpful suggestion I’d give you, next time you forscan back up every module you have. Then you have the backups for next time.
+1000, yes backups are easy to do before you start messing with anything at any time and a simple small txt file can saves you loads of headache down the road.

User error…strikes again. Thank you for taking the time:)!
About 2 weeks ago I changed an SCCM and found it didn’t work so I swapped it back. Turns out I forgot to program it in FORScan lol. So I swapped it back again and programmed it and it worked just fine.

I would start there. That’s *most likely* the issue.

What you should have done before swapping the HVAC module is back up the as built data (save the stock as builts) and the upload them into the new HVAC module. To prevent swapping it back, you could go onto the motor craft websites and find your stock as builts and write them into the HVAC module now. THEN youll have to go back and make the changes for the HSW in the HVAC module again

Use the link below, you’ll have to create an account but it’s free

This is a super helpful piece of info…. I suspect with the 23s having the deleted wheel it’s gonna come up a lot more often. Just simple things like the concept that the system module info lives in the hvac assembly and needs to be totally reloaded vs what I (and many others) assumed prior is that the hvac buttons/clock spring are just dumb switches connected to a centralized controller.

Got my '23 plat the other day and am seeing what exactly they removed.
Looks like the steering wheel has a 4-pin plug but is connected to nothing (clockspring with no pins).
No HSW button on the HVAC controls.

So it looks like I'll need these items
ML3Z-14A664-B/ ML3Z-3F791-BB ?
ML3Z-19980-K
W721079-S437
WPT-404

There was a sticker left in behind the airbag. I haven't found a reference to this part number NL3B-3600-NE319W. But thought it was interesting.

So it sounds like you have the heated wheel itself, but nothing else?

Did you also verify the WPT-404 connector is not there?

This might sound like a silly question, but can keeping a written, or excel log of the Forscan values before and after making changes be a fail safe, as opposed to saving a backup? I do not own Windows computers, so I use my work computer. It seems any Windows based computer I have ever used craps out way too soon and I don’t feel safe keeping backups on a device that won’t be around the next time I need to use Forscan.

Good to know. That looks like the right steering wheel wires for the heat and makes sense its the SCCM pins that aren't there as that's what has been on backorder here recently.

Actually, I was aware of that. I was just wondering if I just documented the before values of the lines I change, would I simply be able to re-enter them in the future to return things back to stock? Like if I uninstalled the HSW in the future.

Maybe I just need more time with Forscan.

I am also confused on how to flash a new part (like HVAC module) to my truck’s as built I have only used Forscan to enable or disable things, never to install a new module.

Thanks

Install the new module. Then run forscan. Do not load any saved profiles allow forscan to search for each module. Then enter the module and load your backup to it. Write it and done.

The shots taken at Windows are so..........2000 ?

And It's software. It's not the part that doesn't last. ?

Forscan and FDRS are Windows based. It's just the way it is.
I admit that if you pony up less for the laptop than you do for the Mongoose, you might not get the best experience.

Let’s not go down this wormhole, lol. I did not mean to offend anyone here. I’m glad your experiences have been different.

Sounds simple enough, but I might still have to get one of my kids involved for the technical support, lol.

So, I wouldn't be making a backup for the entire group of modules? I would be making a backup of an individual module that I will be making changes to? That said, I go to the desired module and make a backup of only that module. Then I swap in the new module, open ForScan without selecting a profile, go to the newly installed module, then write the file that I previously saved to it?

If this is accurate, my kids may be off the hook.

Yes, you can do that, it’s just much more laborious

Without firing shots back concerning Windows, any IT information that you have which is valuable, keep at least two copies. For instance, save the file to the hard drive and a USB drive. Or save a copy to a cloud account. If you're really paranoid, have three copies. That way, you always have access.
Personally, I work in Windows, multiple versions of Linux, and IBM mainframe. If you want dependability, nothing beats big iron! It does cost a tad more than a Windows laptop however ...
