Why do you need to bench test? Are you concerned it may be defective?I might try bench testing the steering wheel with a 12VDC supply and this brick to see if i can make it work.
I'm thinking the current draw will be less than 5A

Steering wheel temp gets set thru Forscanim thinking check to see if the steering wheel gets too hot and figure out a sweet spot for the duty cycle
Yes, and that might actually work in your case. It will turn on automatically when cold enough, then you could set the turn off to whatever setting you want to turn it off automatically by itself. You just couldn't really enable it again without remote starting. So i just had a thought, if i just buy the clockspring and wheel (since i know i want to upgrade my screen later).
Without any button, can i just have the truck automatically turn the heated steering wheel on at startup (or when it's super cold like when my rear defrost comes on automatically)?
Sorry for trying to hack this up, working with limited funds in the 'fun bucket' lol
Correct, blower goes from like full blast to your last setting when you key on, then heated seats stay at full blast as well as I always have to turn them down to one bar. HSW stays on the whole time as well.Pretty sure my blower goes back to last setting but my heated seats stay on
I still have not done the install yet, so I cannot say for sure how accurate/complete that list of changes is. I was hoping to get feedback on that list from someone that has done the upgrade, but no one responded.
That covered under warranty?
Interesting so your wheel stays on after remote start and you get in the car? This could work for me!Yes, and that might actually work in your case. That is pretty how mine works right now, turns on with remote or even normal start since I have the auto shut off set to off, then stays on the whole time. I've honestly only turned it off a handful of times since I got it installed about two months ago, its that nice.
Since I have my auto off disabled, not sure if that is why HSW will turn back on automatically after a normal key cycle as well or not. Or just the fact I haven't turned it off manually, so its on when I turn the truck off, then it stays on next time I fire it up.

ain’t that the truth, I bought a complete assembly with sccm, auto wiper turn signal stalk, and clockspring. It was $190 and on back order till February.man the clock springs are getting out of hand expensive from what I’ve been seeing
Correct, mine stays on about 99% of the time here recently. I've only turned it off on really long, 2+ hour drives so far.Interesting so your wheel stays on after remote start and you get in the car? This could work for me!

Hold on, did you copy over you as built to the new SCCM? There are different left switches for different options, so if its not set correctly, none of the left buttons will work at all until it is set to match.Dammit, I got a faulty SCCM. Left side steering wheel controls do not work. Guess I’m just gonna buy a new one. I hate this crap shoot with used electrical parts
God… rookie freakin mistake there. I’m out of time for the day though. I’ll redo it tomorrow. I spent the rest of my time wiring the headlamp harness into the BCM. I’m 6’1” 245 with big hands, that was a ridiculously hard job. Took me about 90 mins to pin 3 wiresCorrect, mine stays on about 99% of the time here recently.
