Thanks, saved me some money. I guess I am updating in 3 years when I get back to America.

I've applied about 30 updates to two different Powerboosts sitting in the truck with a laptop connected to a Samsung Galaxy phone as a mobile Hotspot

Of course that does require a decent cellular connection.

So I think I'm finally at 3.5.3 as the USB kicked off this morning and updated successfully. I'm bow at 22228 REV 539 for a non BC Powerboost Lariat 501a.

Maybe it's not new but I do like the new navigation on the IPC showing the distance to turn, and no not talking about the little text. See image.

Follow-up question. Can I do this without network connection at the time of the ECU updates? That is, where the truck will be, the laptop will not have internet (at least not for the downloads). I can do a hotspot for the network scan.

So basically, can I download all the updates on the laptop, then connect laptop to truck and do the updates without internet? (if I had a place to leave truck with wifi, I wouldn't even pursue this manual update option).

Thanks!
I don't have access to Wi-Fi where I park either so I just use my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and everything worked perfect. If you don't have 100+ mbps phone data connection and unlimited data, this may not be a good solution either since some updates are massive.

Another question. If vehicle is not activated in Fordpass and also if wifi shows no updates, I can still go the fdrs route correct? Connecting to ford’s servers will actually show updates?

Yes, mine always said i was up to date, but I wasn't. I spent hours getting myself updated with fdrs

AT&T is the cell carrier that Ford has partnered with in CONUS. Where you are I believe it's Vodaphone. I don't know if you can get your local Ford dealer to provision your TCU with an electronic sim for EU or not, but it might be worth a shot. Otherwise you'll have to rely on FDRS to get any updates at all. Cause regardless of what anybody else tells you there is little to no proof that updates are delivered via wifi of any sort. Just never happens.

You can ask somebody here (don't know who) with PTS access to check your connected vehicle OTA dashboard to see if any OTAs have even been queued for your truck in the last 60 days. That would be interesting to know if the system is even trying to reach your truck.

I can tell you what updates you have available if you send me your VIN (using FDRS). But I don't have PTS.

Not sure about ford here, f150 is not sold. I can ask the two dealers around, but they’ll probably hit me with the US spec answer. Their repairs don’t even show in service history.

Before I could try to activate in Fordpass App and it just failed. After buying extended warranty from Granger I can no try to activate. Says I need to take delivery of vehicle first.

I have resisted going down the FDRS path but, alas, a Mongoose comes tomorrow. I have a feeling this is going to take awhile. I haven't had an update since 1.7.1. It looks like the dealer performed the module update repair but nothing else. Does anybody have a guess which modules will take the longest? I plan on working the list top to bottom but I just want to have an idea if one will take a while and I can step away from the truck for a little bit. I really hope these updates will unlock the OTA updates which clearly have not been happening.

I don't have the latest document but this should shed some light on the subject.

I do have one maybe silly question. Do the modules stand alone so I can stop midway through this list? Like say I finish the 3rd update and need to stop or use the truck for some reason. Can I stop, disconnect the truck, and then pick up later where I stopped.

With that set of updates, yes. If you were updating to Blue Cruise there was a chain of updates that triggered one after the other. I would set a big chunk of time aside for the IPMA, it takes 3 hours if memory serves me right.

There are some that are multi linked. i cant recall which ines, but it does warn you. It says that the update affects multiple modules or something like that. The APIMs are the longest. I probably spent like 10+ hours updating from 1.7.1 to 3.5.3. The TCU update will bring me to 3.5.4 but alas I ran out of time.
