@Talon2006 Thanks for the feedback to a lot of questions. 2 more if you don’t mind?
When do you anticipate to have the F150 Shield available again?

Is it possible to collect for us Houston based folks? Save some shipping costs.

Thanks for the reply!

I sent an email (from your website) inquiring about local pickup. Looking forward to your response, and please feel free to request my truck anytime you and your business partner :) might need to trial fit a Powerboost for anything.

This Thread made my weekend! Sending out a new product is one thing that leave me awake at night. I am always very nervous that it is not going to fit for some reason.

We are a new company, right around a year old now. I noticed a few people commented on the design of our old plate compared to this one. A huge part of us being able to make this plate the way it is now is our HUGE investments back into the company for new and better equipment. We are still a very small shop compared to some of the larger names in off road skid plates, but we are grown, and hope we are here to stay! I read this thread, and saw a bunch of interesting questions I figured I would comment on.

They could be welded. The main reasons we have them bolt on is as follows.

1. It still fits into our box we have for another product. This box is about the max size you can ship, without it being a. 2-3x the cost and B, tacking on another 150 dollar UPS "Large box fee"
2. It would make the plate cost about 150-200 dollars more if the wings were not bolt on with how it would all fit on a piece of aluminum.

I do not think without the wings the CATs would be very well protected. The wings add a large amount to limiting access to the cats.

We are actually working at getting this to fit the power boost without removing the air damn. We are very close. I see Shark already posted up our test fit photos. I have another one I plan on bending up tomorrow to test on my truck one more time. We have the air damn measurements nailed, just need to work around the intercooler bracket a little more.

I am very tempted to tell you to bring your truck back for an oil change so we can have your wife film it :p.

The error was all mine. When I was designing this I looked at it upside down and drug the oil door to the wrong side of the plate. I did not realize it till I cut it out and bent it. Due to the layout of the holes, if this was bent the wrong way it would not have fit. We also use the eagle to universally help us bend all the plates the right way. The eagle is always flying towards the passenger side.

I bent this one, set it down in frustration and walked away. Somehow my wife found this plate, and accidently packed it and sent it to you!!! When we got this email our hearts SUNK thinking that we sent this plate out to all of the beta testers with the oil door on the wrong side. I think we were actually out at a restaurant eating when we got your email. You should have seen us digging through emails looking at other pictures to see what we did wrong. It was around that time I realized that must of been the one plate I cut wrong and left in the shop. Thank you for being so cool about it! P.S. I also got to drive my Talon for the first time in weeks this weekend! :p

It depends on how large of a lift. If it modifies the subframe it will cut out most of our lift points and you won't be able to mount the plate. It would essentially require a special design for each brand of lift kit.
Really appreciate you commenting on the post with some great info. I'm just glad mine was your only one on the opposite side for the drain door, soon as I realized it I wanted to get right to you.

Looking forward to see the new front skid plates, day one buy for me.

I gotta get me another 1gb Talon, been 13 years now since I did. Too long.

We just started doing local pickups. After I got my number on our HOA's speed dial my wife and I moved to a shop in the willow brook area.

I think my wife just added the local pickup instructions to the website, but if you shoot us a message we can send you the code to take off the shipping charges, then once your order is ready we will send you a message to set up a pickup time and our address.

@Talon2006 , glad to see you on here. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and I'm glad I could help beta test it. I hope you keep me in mind for future product betas even though I am In FL...lol. You guys have been an absolute pleasure to work with and your communication is top notch!

As a person in IT I find something pleasing in helping people beta test stuff whether its software or stuff like this for my truck ?

Also, I realized I forgot to respond to part of your question.

For our regular F-150 plate we also have a newer power boost style plate. We are really indecisive on if we are going to keep selling the old style, or just go over to the new style.

We are working on the hardware kit for that one, as the one we sent out had a small variation. I am going to look at it more tomorrow and figure out the solution.

We have the Powerboost, F-150, 2022 Tundra and a F-250 diesel all going on at the same time!!!

Now if only someone would drop a Bronco with the 2.7 V6 in my lap I would be really happy, and even more stressed out running around in circles!

@Talon2006 Hi. It looks from the Website that you’ve finalized and gone with the new version for the EB F150, is that correct? Wanted to confirm before I placed my order. Thanks for the code for local pick up, i’ll stop by once it’s completed and say Hi!

My skid plate showed up today. I rounded all the edges as they are a bit sharp. Panted the top surface with hi temp flat black. Not sure if I will paint the bottom.

Mounting it tomorrow but I did not see instructions in the box. Does not look too difficult, but if someone could post them I would be appreciative.

I just ordered one today and the order receipt had a link to the install instructions - https://www.talonsgarage.com/install

This might be the one you want - https://www.talonsgarage.com/_files/ugd/e80c86_2a96dd7d00e94bd4bf9536b33f914171.pdf

Does the cat protection skid plate make changing the oil filter more difficult? I don't have my truck or skid plates yet so I can't check for myself.

No. Oil filter is accessed from the front of the truck. If you open the hood and look at the front of the ending on the drivers side, you will see the oil filter. Under the front end you can reach up and access the filter while laying on the ground.
