It's not flashy, and neither is the PPF I will be getting, but if in the somewhat remote chance that it saves you from cat theft it will be the best money you ever spent.I just received word these are now in stock. About killed me but I ordered one.
Thanks!!Does "Heavy as F@$%$!" Count?
According to UPS tracking, it was 40lbs shipped (in box). I would subtract at least 1-2lb for the box, but that's a guess.
Took me a couple of hours, but I think if the instructions were better and you were smarter than me and at least put it up on ramps, it would take an hour, maybe less. I also for some dumb ass reason used a ratchet instead of pulling out my cordless impact wrench. When I did finally get the impact wrench it went a lot faster, but that was when I was buttoning it up.Thanks!!
How long did it take for the install? Level of complication?
The "wings" are separate so he can fit it in his box, he told me that exactly. If you know what you are doing I don't see a reason you couldn't weld them on if you wanted. You bolt them on the main piece before bolting it to your frame.Beta testers, do you see any reason the cat “wings” could not be welded to the skid plate?
Just to be clear, though they are bolted on, I don't see them ever coming off. They nylock nuts and there is no way you could get your hand up in there to hold the nylocks and try and remove them. It would be easier to just unbolt the whole skid plate. My plan is to get it all bolted together and fitted in place, then take it off and get it welded.
No worries, it could easily be. But the main plate has curved edges where the wings attach. They'd point down if so. Having both skid plates they're definitely opposite sides. I was able to drain the oil using a foldable drain mat thing.Don’t take this the wrong way (pun not intended), but could it be mounted upside down?
I've let Talons know and they asked for a couple more pictures too.Oh my. Somebody at the metal break may have been misreading the prints when bending the wings. Please report back once you talk to the manufacturer.
PS. Can you post a picture or two showing the entire skid plate?
On the PB if you are facing the front of the truck, is there a certain side of the truck that should have that opening? Driver side or passenger side.I've let Talons know and they asked for a couple more pictures too.
At this point I would rather use the method I did even if the drain door was on the other side. Adding the check valve drain port will definitely help with the door in the right spot. Thankfully it's not too hard reaching in from the passenger side to the drain bolt.
After I started to get my truck off the jack stands is when they wanted some better pictures so these currently are the best I have for wide angle.
