Typically, we do not do any discounts or promo codes because we keep are margins pretty small. Something I have noticed, is most competitors who advertise sales, are still more expensive then we are, and their product takes a lot less material to cut make :p.

That being said, I just brought this up to my wife and we both think its a good idea. I am going to do some number crunching and see what I can set up.
Don't do one.

You have a premium product with limited supply and currently it sells for a competitive price that keeps your inventory low.
There's really nothing else like it that works for us.

Stick to what you believe the value is and let the market respond. Which it has.

"PowerBeast" - our 2021 F150 Lariat 4x4 Powerboost
When I was starting my business I was determined to have the lowest price to ensure success.

My step dad - who was a very successful salesman - framed a printout and hung in my office. It read:

"Sell below cost and make it up on volume."

When I told him that would never work his reply was:

"And don't ever forget this."

Does anyone have one of these plates and regularly use ford service or quick lane for oil changes? Do they bust your balls or charge more due to plate interference?

There is no interference. There's an access door.
My truck came with the diaper from the factory and it would be required to be removed and reinstalled completely anyway.

Besides, if anyone doesn't want to change my oil, I hope they DO speak up! That's something I need to know.

The other huge but situational benefit is that you actually gain extra space beneath the transmission pan: the plate sits lower than the horizontal plane made by the frame members. That's exactly where the driver's side exhaust pipe runs, which means that if you are inclined to install a custom exhaust, you now have the space for a round pipe with more clearance without the pipe just dangling in the breeze for rocks and things to rip open. Most folks won't utilize that, but for folks who want a custom exhaust it is unexpectedly game changing.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the great info on what seems to be a great product. I have a 2021 PowerBoost and had the ‘diaper’ fall apart. I would like to protect the oil pan and everything covered up by the diaper. I assume what I’d need from Talon is the engine skid plate. But when I look at that item on their website it looks like the two pieces that come with it are in front of the one that covers the engine (and has the door for oil changes). Do I need a different item than the engine skid plate or is the picture wrong or am I confused? Thanks!

The pieces in your picture are the engine covers. the transmission cover that sits after these two is the one that covers the transmission, offers protection against catalytic converter theft and has the little cutout to gain access to the engine oil drain plug.

I know it has been several months since anyone has posted on this thread. But I thought I would share my experience in case anyone in the future is looking for additional insight on a Talons Garage Catalytic Converter skid plate.

First, this is an excellent product. It is very well made and includes everything you need to install it (not the tools of course). I would not hesitate to purchase for the protection or just to replace the felt liner. I have the FX4 skids on my truck, so this was in addition to those. I installed this by myself and the truck was not on jacks. Lifted would have been easier for sure, but this was not that difficult. Here are the steps I used and one trick that worked great:

1. I removed the felt liner completely.
2. I loosened the two bolts on the front skid plate (FX4) but would be same two bolts for a felt liner. I loosened them till they almost were out.
3. I loosened three of the four bolts holding the transfer case skid plate and rotated it out of the way (leaving one bolt holding it on)
4. I placed the Talons skid plate (with the wings attached of course) on the ground under the truck exactly where it would go. I then layed parallel to the plate with my head at the front. I lifted the front end and slid it onto the two front bolts I had loosened earlier.
5. While holding the side of the plate so it could not slide off the two front bolts (the back end was still on the ground) I slid a box (about 6” high) under the plate so it was now sitting on the box and the two front slots were being held up by the two front bolts. Now it would not slide off.
6. I then (and this was the key to making this an easy install) I slid in behind the unit, lifted the back of the plate up against the frame (beam) and used a “one handed bar clamp” and clamped the plate to the frame. I then was able to easily shift it to make sure it was lined up correctly. Once all lined up, I added another clamp to make sure it was securely held in place. Now it could not slip of the front bolts and was in position to easily be bolted to the frame.
7. Since the plate was now secure, I deviated from the instructions and did the bolt on the passenger side first. The metal heat shield was in the way, but there was just enough room to slide the washer under the edge of the metal heat shield and the bolt went right in place. I then added the nut and tightened it loosely.
8. I wanted to make sure the transfer case plate would attach correctly so I rotated that back in place and hand tightened those bolts back in .
9. Then I installed the driver side bolt. This was the most challenging as the washer kept falling into the slot in the frame before I could get the nut on. There is not much room for the nut so the bolt can barely stick up through the slot while trying to start the nut. But because of this, the washer kept falling into the slot. A magnetic retriever slid into the side of the frame would get it out. I eventually had to push the bolt through a piece of paper, then drop the washer onto it so it could not fall through the slot. That worked perfectly.
10. I then tightened down both back bolts and the bolts for the transfer plate. Then I tightened the two front bolts. Then I removed the two clamps. All done.

The process was very straight forward. Having the correct tools out in advance made it easy to access them as needed. Using an impact driver was very helpful to loosen the existing bolts. I would definitely put the oil plate brackets on before installing the plate, as that will be much quicker. Doing this yourself is fairly easy. However, it would be great to have a helper just to hand you the things you need so you don't have to keep sliding out from under the truck, as that takes the most time.

I have not noticed any different noises at all with this installed in place of the felt liner. I am extremely pleased with this product and install.
