On Powerboost, the oil drain plug faces the passenger side and is on the passenger side of the sump itself.

On the PB if you are facing the front of the truck, is there a certain side of the truck that should have that opening? Driver side or passenger side.
Exactly what @Snakebitten mentioned. Passenger side. Also the drain plus is on the side of the oilpan pointing out towards the passenger side too. Not directly on the bottom pointing down.

Shaun at Talons Garage got back with me and mentioned they goofed and the hole is on the wrong side. He asked if I wanted to swap for a correct one or get $100 back since I sent him the picture showing how draining from the side worked for me anyways and keep it like it is.

I'm going to keep it and told him don't worry about the $100. It's been a great experience and they were also great to deal with too.

I will say that I'm not sure if mine was the only one like that as I didnt ask, @FrankThompson @shark1987 are you guys able to see where your oil drain hole is?

So I haven't changed the oil yet, but Shaun pointed out the oil drain during install, but maybe I'll double check tonight.

I went back to look at your pictures (and mine and @FrankThompson's) and yea, ours are on the opposite side as yours. I feel like he just bent yours upside down. That sucks but glad it didn't end up a total disaster for you.

Good idea looking back at the pictures and glad to hear yours are correct, I was hoping this was the case rather than all of the new ones being incorrect.

So if I'm not mistake, the cutout for access to my oil plug is on the correct side. Pleas correct me if I'm wrong.

That is very commendable of you. Small specialty shops can often fill a niche that larger shops will not touch due to volume not being high enough. These shops deserve all the help/R&D they can get and I am sure what you have done will be a big help to him.

On another note if you do decide to get something like a Fumoto or that Valvomax drain set up you will have a hose to direct the oil anywhere you want without a mess. As long as you can reach that drain area, your future oil changes will be a breeze. Thanks for the posts!

100%, if it was some big fortune 500 that has an insane management hierarchy I definitely would have taken the full swap no questions asked.

Talons Garage have been an email response away within nearly 15 minutes the whole time, would buy from again and hope to once some pieces come in stock.

I'm still nervous on getting the valves after doing some research, if getting to the drain plug was a bigger pain I would but thankfully I didn't even need a knuckle buster to get to it. Just a good extension and right off it went.

Those talon plates look sweet. I’ve known about them for months but I’d really like to lift my truck a year or 2 after I get it and they don’t work with lifts ? seems counter intuitive when you think about it so just don’t think about it.

This Thread made my weekend! Sending out a new product is one thing that will leave me awake at night. I am always very nervous that the new plate is not going to fit once it gets sent out.

We are a new company, right around a year old now. I noticed a few people commented on the design of our old plate compared to this one. A huge part of us being able to make new style plate the way it is now is our HUGE investments back into the company for new and better equipment. We are still a very small shop compared to some of the larger names in off road skid plates, but we are growing, and hope we are here to stay! I read this thread, and saw a bunch of interesting questions I figured I would comment on.

any reason the cat “wings” could not be welded to the skid plate?
They could be welded. The main reasons we have them bolt on is as follows.

1. It still fits into our box we have for another product. This box is about the max size you can ship, without it being a. 2-3x the cost and B, tacking on another 150 dollar UPS "Large box fee"
2. It would make the plate cost about 150-200 dollars more if the wings were not bolt on with how it would all fit on a piece of aluminum.

crease the size of the r
without them you probably still couldn't cut them out. Their last one didn't have such big wings so I guess only Talon
I do not think without the wings the CATs would be very well protected. The wings add a large amount to limiting access to the cats.

id of that felt guard underneath, I think I've heard called the diaper, Lol. You'd need to buy both to get the one.
We are actually working at getting this to fit the power boost without removing the air damn. We are very close. I see Shark already posted up our test fit photos. I have another one I plan on bending up tomorrow to test on my truck one more time. We have the air damn measurements nailed, just need to work around the intercooler bracket a little more.

I am very tempted to tell you to bring your truck back for an oil change so we can have your wife film it :p.

The error was all mine. When I was designing this I looked at it upside down and drug the oil door to the wrong side of the plate. I did not realize it till I cut it out and bent it. Due to the layout of the holes, if this was bent the wrong way it would not have fit. We also use the eagle to universally help us bend all the plates the right way. The eagle is always flying towards the passenger side.

I bent this one, set it down in frustration and walked away. Somehow my wife found this plate, and accidently packed it and sent it to you!!! When we got this email our hearts SUNK thinking that we sent this plate out to all of the beta testers with the oil door on the wrong side. I think we were actually out at a restaurant eating when we got your email. You should have seen us digging through emails looking at other pictures to see what we did wrong. It was around that time I realized that must of been the one plate I cut wrong and left in the shop. Thank you for being so cool about it! P.S. I also got to drive my Talon for the first time in weeks this weekend! :p

It depends on how large of a lift. If it modifies the subframe it will cut out most of our lift points and you won't be able to mount the plate. It would essentially require a special design for each brand of lift kit.
