It has everything to do with the Department of Insurance Regulation in Florida. The ESP is the same in every state and there is no additional risk for me in Florida than it would be in GA. When I was looking, the FL price was almost double the GA price. It was ridiculous and I wonder who was getting the extra money??
Quite sure the Florida dealers. Auto dealer associations in most states carry a lot of political juice. If you want the ability to buy from any ESP seller anywhere in the US, you would have to beat the FLorida dealers association lobby.

I think Ziegler can sell to those of us in Florida, but the price may not be any better than getting it from a local dealer. Some of us who ordered trucks from out of state have (or intend) to purchase a PremiumCare ESP through the out-of-state dealer at time of delivery. At least with Granger and Chapman, they seem willing to match the Flood price.

i am taking delivery of my tremor from granger next week and was orignaly told they match flood ford for the esp, now working up the final numbers it looks like they cant sell to a Florida resident.

Why not? As long as you are purchasing the vehicle out of state, you can buy your ESP right there on the spot. That's what I did with Chapman in PA. Paid $2350 for PremiumCare 8yr/100K 0-ded & all options. Same ESP through local dealer would be around $1800 more. All the paperwork shows my Florida address and ALL Ford dealerships MUST accept the plan. Even paid FL sales tax on it when I registered the truck at DMV. I noticed DMV also charged me sales tax on the truck price before my $5000 in cash offers. I also noticed I didn't have to pay some sort of $250 registration fee because my empty weight was above 5000 lbs.

This is typical for FL residents who want to purchase a Ford backed ESP.

Some FL politicians sold the FL residents out via bribes from the state auto dealer network so they don’t have to compete with the big online sellers of the same Ford backed ESP.

Legalized bribery…….nothing more…..nothing less.

I only skimmed the thread so I probably deserve any grief I may get...but why buy it before you are getting near the end of the 3 year period or are creeping up on 36k? Is it cheaper at time of purchase? Is it not available after a certain time or mileage?

Doesn't apply to everyone, but if you live in FL and buy from one of the forum dealers, you can add it at time of sale when you are physically out of state versus paying 2x due to the corruption in FL.

Doesn't apply to me. I am only 60:D

I have never purchased an extended warranty
..on anything that I can think of but these trucks have me at least considering. Other than possibly avoiding a price increase, it seems I am just giving Ford an interest free loan for 3 years. I always thought if you are under 36k you could buy at 2 years and 11.9 months. If I buy now and cancel at 2 years and 11.9 months do I get 100% back?

Here is what I found after plugging in a few numbers at https://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/

EXAMPLES:
All 3 below are for 8 Years, 100,000 Miles, $100 Deductible (on a 2022 4WD Powerboost)
$1890 - 5,000 miles, within 12 months of in-service date
$1,990 - 5,000 miles, not within 12 months of in-service date
$2,090 - 34,000 miles, not within 12 months of in-service date

Then I tried 42,000 miles and the options changed considerably. The maximum time period available 4 was years and the maximum mileage 75,000.
$2,880 for 4 years, 75,000 miles, $100 deductible.

It’s cheaper if you enroll it before 12 month / 12,000 miles. Also, this thread is awesome thanks to OP. Dealer quoted me $1875 for a 4yr/75000 mile and I can get on one of the poster dealers sites for less than half.

As EricR stated so well, the the cost goes up, not only with time but mileage.

I'm working with Granger on pricing out the extended warranty for my truck. I'm going to go with the 7 year/100k miles option.

I was thinking about adding the maintenance plan as well but I'm struggling to sort out if it's worth it. I would do the same 7 year/100k miles plan. From Granger, that maintenance plan, with synthetic oil and 5k mile intervals, it would cost $2,615.

Ford.com shows the maintenance plan for the F150 as oil changes, tire rotations, filters (cabin and engine alternate every 10k miles), and visual inspections until 100k miles. Spark plugs get done at 60k miles.

With all the "inspect...", are those items replaced with no additional costs if I have the maintenance plan? I suppose it depends on dealership but I would hope if I have the warranty and maintenance plans I shouldn't have to pay anything at any service appointment until I hit that 7 year/100k miles mark.

Maybe I'm paranoid but why wouldn't the dealership just push off anything they inspected and then tell me at 105k miles that the suspension, balljoints, etc all need to be replaced out of pocket?

Looks like I won't be purchasing any type of extended warranty. Perhaps in 3 or 4 years, I'll sell my Powerboost, purchase my next vehicle out of state, along with the ESP. It's unbelievable how much trash and corruption goes on in Florida.

For the Premium Maintenance a few things you might want to consider, depending on you situation:
  • Dropping the full synthetic. Ford states the Motocraft semi-synthetic is typically good for 10,000 miles (unless the oil monitor says change sooner). So if your truck sees typical usage/duty you are still changing the semi-syn out 50% earlier than needed for warranty.
  • Or, keep the full synthetic and go with 7,500 miles. That is changing out a better oil 25% sooner than Ford recommends for the semi-syn. Also, the 5,000 mile interval includes the severe-duty maintenance items (towing, off-road, dusty, etc.) so you may be paying for something you will never use.
  • With inflation rearing its ugly head I figured locking in my maintenance costs today was a good idea.
  • On the other hand, if in the future Ford hits bankruptcy both my ESP and Premium Maintenance contracts could be worthless. I'm blindly ignoring this possibility.

We freqently tow our travel trailer and usually boondock (off road, dusty) rather than use RV parks. So I went with semi-syn at 5,000 miles to get the severe-duty items. Last week I took it in for the 10,000 mile maintenance and the service rep said next time (15,000 miles) they would be replacing the air filter.

The dealership I use is quite good. The quality of your servicing dealer might be another thing to consider.

I bought my plan this morning. I took all the options and used my FordPass points towards it.
