I payed 3400 for a 8/75k ESP. Was supposed to be a great deal. Found it at Zeigler for 1600. I am going to cancel the one thru the dealership and get it from Zeigler.
with Ziegler ESP use discount code PAYINFULL and you get $225 off.

The strange thing is that Ziegler was over $200 higher than Flood on both ESP and Maintenance plans. Since I plan to buy both the PAYINFULL didn't close that gap and Flood is still cheaper. I don't know why this is, but I suppose I will be using Flood!

This is mostly if you are into nerdy analyses, but I plotted the data earlier today to try to decide what I wanted to do. I wanted to visualize the data since I could see it was really non-linear after year 6 or 100k miles.

Take a look at this. I believe that based on Ford's risk assessment, they believe most issues will start happening at around year 6 where the price starts to break away from the bunched together years 3-5. Which kind of makes sense because our first 3 are covered by the manufacturer already.

The the other thing that jumps out is that they really expect problems to increase when you reach 100k miles. The 125k and 150k really shoot up non-linearly.

But the best part is that you can clearly see an error in their calculations because the 7yr and 8yr slopes actually *decrease* at the 100k mark! That relative dip makes the 100k the most efficient bang for your buck but only if you pick 7yr or 8yr. In fact 7yr is barely more than 6yr but ONLY at that specific 100k mileage!!

Since I will likely be doing more telecommuting I doubt I will put 20k/yr on my truck again, so I am opting for the 7yr 100k option, before Ford figures out their number nerds screwed up their calculations!

FYI: This chart is for $0 deductible but ALL deductibles followed this exact same pattern. So they have a formula anomaly (error?), it was not a human entering the 100k data points incorrectly.

This is awesome. I was already going with the 8/100,(for both the ESP and maintenance because ain't nobody got time for that), but you're awesome for doing this anyway.

8yr is very tempting!! Like in theory I WANT to keep it that long, but my last 2 vehicles I had for 4 then 3.5 years. Each of those I was planning to keep forever!

I'm just starting to look into ESP's.

I estimate that I'll only put on around 11,000 miles per year, so with all the ESP's out there, I will very likely hit the year limit well before the miles limit.

My understanding of the Ford warranty (no deductible):
  • 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage
  • 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Warranty coverage
  • 5-year/60,000-mile safety restraint coverage
  • 5-year/unlimited-mile corrosion perforation
  • 8-year/100,000 Hybrid/Electric Unique Component Coverage
With these ESP packages, for example 7-year / 100,000 miles, is this really more like gap coverage for specific warranties that expire prior to the 7-years/100,000 miles?

Meaning for the first warranty item, the ESP would essentially cover years 4-7, and miles 36k - 100k?

Basically the ESP picks up where the Ford warranty ends, up until you reach the earlier of the ESP term, e.g., 7 years or 100,000.

What I'd really be interested in is something like a 12-year / 150k miles plan, but it looks like the max term is 8 years.

Keep in mind that both sales volume and "service visits" count in their calculations. I doubt there is a mistake, it seems they wanted to provide a product that was right around $2k (most likely market history shows this is their pricing sweet spot) and consumers want 7 or 8 years for 100K.... then factor in the service visits and as you said the price spikes after $100k
Good work!!

Does anyone know if we pay tax on these plans if they are purchased online? I’m assuming we pay tax at the local dealer but I could be wrong. I’m in CA BTW.

Another question: How does the deductible work? Say I bring the truck in and they repair the transmission and the window. Do I pay one deductible (per visit), or two (per item repaired)?

Update: I answered my own Question #2. From the Ford website: Your deductible is paid per warranty visit, and not per item. So if you have a $100 deductible, and have two warranty issues you would pay the $100 deductible just once on that visit.

I purchased my plan from Zeigler online and was not charged sales tax. I'm in Texas.

What did you find on prices for this? Can flood sell to Canadians? I think flood is still 40% less even with exchange rate unless I completely missed something.
$2700 to extend power train to 200k km and $4000 to extend bumper to bumper to 120k km.

Not sure if flood can sell to Canada

I purchased my truck today. When the finance guy brought up ESP he gave me a price based on what I told him for miles I drive and how long I planned on keeping the truck. Price sounded good but I went in thinking I was going to wait anyway and research Flood and Ziegler. I mentioned that to him and he had never heard of them so punched up quotes from them. 8 year, 125,000 mile, $200 deductible was $2,065 from Flood and $2,365 from Ziegler. Dealer had already offered me $1,862 before even looking them up. I was pleasantly surprised. This is for the PremiumCARE.
Can you post a link to the dealer..
I'll see what I can get..
Thanks

I am going for 8/100K version. What are the pro/con arguments for the add on:
  • First Day Rental ($30/day max) - $50
  • Enhanced Rental (doubles the per day to $60, not including day 1) - $95
  • Bulb Coverage - $95
  • Key Services - $80
I am a bit confused about the rental options. Concerns are:
  • To take the truck to the dealership and to teleport oneself to a car rental place to get a car at short notice for $30/less and to drop off when the truck is ready seems like more trouble than it is worth. So, thinking that the first day rental (cheap) is useless. The Extended rental might be worth something.
  • I assume one will need to buy insurance for the car rental. Again, $30 isn't going to cut it.
Bulb coverage - This might be worth it, as we do expect to be one a few dirt roads.

Key service - Haven't lost a key in my life yet. Hope it stays that way. So, not inclined to take this.

It'd be great to get some other perspective, if only to make sure I am not missing something.
