I guess my "freedom rules" state of FL doesn't allow me to buy contracts online (Odd since I bought my extended warranty on my '17 directly from Ford online)

"We are sorry but due to Florida law, Florida Residents are not eligible for online service contracts. Please contact your local dealer."

That is Flood. I'm gonna check some others.

I think Ziegler can sell to those of us in Florida, but the price may not be any better than getting it from a local dealer. Some of us who ordered trucks from out of state have (or intend) to purchase a PremiumCare ESP through the out-of-state dealer at time of delivery. At least with Granger and Chapman, they seem willing to match the Flood price.

I've never purchased a ESP but with my new 22 Platinum arriving shortly I am considering it. Any things I should look for? What should I be paying? Purchase from dealer or outside? Thanks

If you are here on this thread then you obviously know of the several ESP providers for your vehicle. If you know what you want prior to sitting down with the guy who wants to put his hand deep into your pocket "aka finance guy", check out all the ESP sites and choose your deductible along with length and mileage as well as options and you will be armed against the clown trying to rip you off. Its nice to have this option these days and you can let them try to match it or you walk away and buy it later on your own.
I purchased my truck from Flood Ford, just outside of Providence, RI. Ironically Flood Ford, same name but a different location does the online ESP programs. I went to said dealer armed with what I wanted. I printed out the chart which was a great quick reference when sitting with these guys yap away @100 words per minute. They offered 5yr/60k for $2500, my quick chart showed me $1400, and then I showed my hand and said match it or forget it!
The guy was a bit miffed, said I cannot and I simply said, I am going to get myself a free coffee while you rewrite the deal minus the ESP they assumed that I was taking.
I would have bought from Flood ESP and they did have a slightly better deal but I maxed out to the 8yr/150k with most of available options from Ziegler, which was the only dealer that offered a 12 month payment plan. In total it came to almost $4k.
My thoughts were that, I really didnt need a plan for that long but Ziegler and I assume others all prorate their ESP plans and will buy back whatever you do not use, if you decide to sell, just pass it onto the next guy, if he chooses to not buy it as an extra, you sell it back to the dealer and from what I have read in previous posts, it can be a pretty good return. That is my plan, at least the truck is covered long term (3.0 Diesel) and I or the next guy can not worry.
Ziegler also took payment in my 75,000 Ford points as well, which was like found money.
Good luck and enjoy the grin on the finance guys face when you show him your chart!

The only reason I can think of that FL does this is because someone in the State government was payed off.

In other words…….Legalized Bribery

I was planning to go with Ziegler but my Dealer gave the Ford Premium Care ESP for $1,800.00 and financed it at 0%.

Maybe I could have gotten a better deal or a better warranty but so far I’m happy with it…

Is it worth getting this extended warranty plans? I always assumed them to be a waste of money. Although, this is the first 'new' vehicle I have ever purchased (or ordered as like everyone anxiously waiting and reading up on these 21s daily).
Waste of money IMO

I know this is largely subjective, but I think there is, at some point, a specific ESP plan (miles, term, deductible) for F-150s with less than 3 years/36,000 miles that presents a best value from an end user stand point as well as a selling point (transferable), or prorated refund if you sell the truck before the ESP expires.
I keep looking at the 7 year, 125k $200 deductible.. of all the things I'd worry about failing on this truck within that time/number of miles, it is all things that are far more costly than a $200 deductible, which with the additional coverage for lighting and keys is just a hair over $2k.

Again, I know this is largely subjective, but based on ESP terms offered there must be a plan that sits closest to the middle of within the bell curve..

I'm curious why you make that comment. With older vehicles not so heavily reliant on technology, I would probably agree with you. But with this new generation of truck that is so heavily leveraged on electronics and computer technology, I'm not so sure.

Care to expand on your commentary a bit?

Post 108.....page 8....This thread.

Great excel spreadsheet by one of our members. The price has changed since then, but the methodology still applies.

I still think the $50 dollar deductible is "technically" the sweet spot, in spite of the initial diagnostic fee. However, in a world of $8 dollar coffees, I understand why a few hundred more to go to 0 deductible , makes sense for some.

Just remember, there is no deductible for the first 3/36. Likewise, if it's powertrain related, there is no deductible for the first 5/60. It takes about six visits of paying the $50 deductible to break even. On a seven year plan, that's almost every six months of bringing it in before you start to realize a savings on a 0 deductible (1.75 per year).

Again, different options for different people, but I will be purchasing a ESP for sure considering:
1. The computer tech and electronics in the PB
2. The fact that my truck will be built during the most "suspect" and challenging times in auto manufacturing history.

It has everything to do with the Department of Insurance Regulation in Florida. The ESP is the same in every state and there is no additional risk for me in Florida than it would be in GA. When I was looking, the FL price was almost double the GA price. It was ridiculous and I wonder who was getting the extra money??
