I have 3 cameras at speed. Views of the bed, hitch and rear (tailgate camera looking back). Activated with the button and switching between views using the soft button on the screen.

I finally got all the gear I needed (bit the bullet on the Mongoose) and the time to run these updates. The guides linked on Page 1 from @iceman77 and @Bob_Mac are excellent. I've worked in companies that have much worse documentation.

If you haven't noticed already, the blog of the manufacturer for the VX Nano "borrows" heavily from your guides.

I also learned that using an old laptop with 4 GB of RAM doesn't cut it. Had multiple failed attempts. Had to run to Best Buy and purchase an ASUS ROG laptop that was on sale that I was eyeing. I know I really had to twist my arm to find an excuse to buy it, but we all have to make sacrifices.

Anyways, the new laptop did the trick, modules started updating like they should have for the most part. Unfortunitely, 2 hours into the IPC update at 2 AM my shiny new laptop decided that it needed to do a Windows update and restarted itself. Realized I forgot to turn that off, rookie mistake. Oh man that made me nervous, truck had the front lights on, blank instrument display, non functioning electronics. A network scan showed a lot of red modules.

Thankfully all the good information in this thread informed me to keep calm and try it again, after first turning off those damned auto windows updates. Successful this morning, all my modules are green as well after doing another network test.

APIM, TRM, GSM, TCU all got updated. IPMA did fail, but I have to run errands today so I'll save that update for another day...my truck isn't Blue Cruise capable anyways so it's not a huge priority.

Was kinda hoping to have the cameras in motion enabled. I see some new features from Sync (22087_PRODUCT Revision 415), I think I may need to enable them in Forscan. Need to do more research into that.

Yesterday I see a failed attempt for an OTA update for Powerup 2.6.0, probably because I was updating modules at that time. Looks like it tried shortly after I finished updating the TCU and GSM module. From what I read, I think chances are good that update will roll through OTA sometime soon.

I think I'll wait for the PCM update to come through for Powerboost before I run this show again.

Man I'm tired. This thread is great, thanks for all the information.

Hey there, small question, I used this guide about a month ago.

Stuck Job 1 Truck, updated everything with a Mongoose. Created the USB stick to update the APIM and nothing happened. Taking the advice of one of the posts I could find I just left it in the USB port...Friday when I left for work it started updating and now I'm on Version "21146_PRODUCT" which the noticeable changes were directions on the cluster from Carplay and album art on the side panel from carplay. I'm sure more changed but nothing I've noticed.

So does this mean I'm good? Will OTA updates follow in a few days or do I still need to follow through with the TSB? It's been 2 months waiting on my dealership to get the cables in from Ford with is laughable because they could have them tomorrow from Amazon but well you know how it goes.

Alternatively if I pay for another 2 day license of FDRS could I do more APIM updates, the main reason I'm being impatient is by updating all my other modules and my APIM being behind I lost lane keeping and it's making long trips longer lmao.

Thanks for any insight.

OTA updates should start up now that you are unstuck. It might take a few weeks to a month to get caught up. I was exactly in your situation I was so excited to be unstuck I bought a two day license and sent a day to get all caught up I had a trip coming and I wanted blue cruise and my cameras. A two license will get you through multiple apim updates and all updates available done.

The dealer fixed mine on Tuesday to the same version you have. Within a 1.5 hours of getting it home on Wednesday I got the 2.1.0 update. Good luck with yours.

Another quick question, I swear I read that having some modules updated but not the APIM will break lane keeping until you get to the BlueCruise update. But I can't find that information now.

Is there something else I can do to get lane keeping back for the moment or just wait it out?

Having a mismatch between IPC/APIM/IPMA will break lane centering. Nothing to do except wait or break out FDRS. It sucks.

It would appear that the latest GWM update failed to configure for me. Note, "configure", I did receive the USB update completed successfully and that I could remove the USB from the slot message. (waited 30+ minutes etc...)

However, when powering back on and following the steps on the screen, the configuration step repeatedly fails. It is a Sunday morning, so not sure if there is a connection issue with Ford's servers, but it is a little troubling that a whole batch of updates were completed without issue and this failed.

Any ideas?

@ken325i

I think SSM 50289 applies to you.
Big Blue is working on a patch.
Have a look.

SSM 50289 - 2021 F-150 - Erroneous Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U2404:92 Setting In the Gateway Module (GWM) After GWM Software Update
Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC)U2404:92 stored in the gateway module (GWM) after an over the air (OTA) update was performed or the GWM software was updated using the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS). This may be due to various software parameters within the GWM.

If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the GWM operation, this DTC should be disregarded. This DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability.

Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) GWM update in December 2021 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

IMO, if U2404:92:0A is not a false flag in your GWM, then you might have an intermittent Ethernet failure between it and your IPMA which needs to be resolved, but I doubt that's your problem, because I would expect it to be more consistent since you bought it if it was.

@Jesse-Infotainment
Do you believe this GWM OTA update could be completed manually? or would it require a new GW module?

Thanks
Ken

It could be attempted.. it is rare a module is bad. I could send you a usb if you don’t have fdrs

Want to add that is a code several people have had and will have unknowingly. People have DTCs all the time. I doubt you have an issue honestly. I haven’t looked at the vin to really study but the Ethernet DTCs happen more than people realize. There are people in this thread that had that dtc for a while and it went away. I had the same for an apim for a week. It went away. They are looking for a handshake within 3 seconds of turning the truck on and if it isn’t there it will set the code and that code is a continuous code.

Send me your vin and I’ll take a better look but we can’t always be concerned with DTCs. I could pull 10 vins today from people that have not a single issue and promise that 9 out of 10 have a DTCs of some kind or a history of one that came and went. @JEB had a TCU dtc same I told him to unplug the TCU for a while and let it completely shut down and from my knowledge it’s been fine. The TCU is noticeable though when the Ethernet issue is present because it communicates through Ethernet.

The other modules only use it for usb updates.. and OTA.

Again I haven’t looked at your vin.

Could you please? Many thanks! Will send you a private message.

This OTA update has failed 7 times. It will reset Tuesday, but I am sure it will fail again.

Thks!

Update: I disconnected everything and took the truck for a 20-minute drive. After an hour, or so, reconnected FRDS and ran the network scan. The GWM SW update no longer displayed in the list. APIM was next on the list. Running APIM now.

APIM installed fine. No additional SW updates listed. Took it for a quick drive and BC displayed for a brief moment - the roads around here are not supported, but the software is updated. Thank you to all for your assistance. Now to fix the process for the hundreds or thousands who will not do this for themselves.
