Hello everyone,
Just wanted to see yalls thoughts on this topic. I am the only one that think the Fx4 upgrade is a waste of money? I would like to see Ford offer bilsteins or foxes, or some other added benefit to this "offroad" package. To me, skid plates aren't really something to write home about. I do a ton of "offroad" drving, all dirt and rock roads around the ranch (not very laboring to a truck), and the skid plates are irrelevant. And the locking diff is an option I just add to my 4x4 builds anyway. I think people who actually need skid plates are usually going to spend money on aftermarket offroad parts anyway? I guess what i'm hoping for is a package that suites a daily driver looking for a better offroad ride, not a bare minimum rock crawler package. Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

I have a 4x4 and I see no need for the FX4 package. You can always upgrade your shocks whenever you want and get better parts from the aftermarket. The fact that you can get a locker outside of the FX4 package makes FX4 useless to me.

I had the FX4 package on my old truck but didn't get it on my new one for exactly these reasons.

I could see it for the $400 or so it is on the Super Dutys, but $1k is a lot. Would be more worth it with Trail Control/Turn Assist.

I couldn't justify the extra $1k on my build. Rock crawl and hill descent can be added with a factory switch (assuming you can get it) and forscan mods. I don't see myself adding these to my daily driver, other than for the personal satisfaction of doing so.

The "skid plates" are pretty low quality, especially when compared to actual parts available aftermarket.

It's not high-end off road stuff, either for rock crawling or desert running. But from a re-sale standpoint, it's probably worth it as basically just having the sticker adds value. If that's not a concern, may not be worth it.

Remember you're also paying extra for the 20' rims on the FX4 option. I also believe they're an inch wider.

I agree 100%, not worth the money!

Getting FX4 is probably my biggest regret as far as the options I chose. Didn't do enough research beforehand. Good for you for asking. And I had the dealer pull the stickers off too :ROFLMAO:

I don't know about others, but I didn't get 20" rims on my 302A with FX4 and it wasn't listed as part of the package.

For me personally, I put FX4 on every truck I buy.

First and foremost this is a boost to resale if only marginally. I worked in sales for Ford for years and most people want it!! Trust me!!

I also will never own a truck without a rear locker, which in Canada costs $400 to add as an option.

With the FX4 Package costing $950, after the electronic locking dif, I need to get $550 more value for this to make sense.

Noone has mentioned yet that FX4 also gets you the upgraded AT tires which to me is worth $500 alone.

Add the rock crawl mode, Hill Decent Control, the sticker and the value is there without even factoring in the upgraded shocks, or skid plates.

If you dont want/need a locking dif maybe you can forgo this option, But if youre gonna add the locking dif, FX4 is a NO BRAINER!!!!

Some people just want the sticker. Its their truck, their money as far as I'm concerned. I have max tow, so the only thing I don't have is the front shocks, skid plates I think. I didn't want to sacrifice the ride quality, I have heard the FX4 is a little bit stiffer. My truck will be the 1st non FX4 gen 13 or 14 ill have been in.
