The only Forscan change I have ever made was the running board activation one to the DSM. And even before that, I was not seeing any updates. That one change is something I know Platinum Peasant has done, and I see he has updated.
well at least you have ruled that out.

This whole thread is documentation of how the truck owner can not only address the 1.7.1 snag, but every other software update Ford has available for these trucks.
Agreed but, I digress. I can only help those that want help.

Yeah, but if I can save myself weeks of waiting with the USB in the truck for 1.7.1 to kick off by buying a $5 adapter and running a config in FDRS, why wouldn't I? I'm not taking it into the dealer, I'm DIYing the module update repair procedure in the TSB then trying 1.7.1 again to see if it expedites it.

I'm fairly new posting but have been lurking since the beginning. Am I missing a reason not to do the TSB myself to keep the updates moving along?

Actually, I'm curious of your outcome. But it's a rather finite goal compared to what most are aiming for.

Because the 1.7.1 equivalent will not kick off. I mean eventually it would right ( up to 30 days for some people). But this appears to be the dealer fix for 1.7.1 and I'd rather apply it and move on rather than wait for an update to kick off. I had to remove those panels anyway for a ham radio project...
I have not been following your posts so, let me ask this, do you have any updates showing in FDRS?

My goal is a truck that is completely up to date. I've done everything available to me in FDRS except that darn 1.7.1 APIM. I assume more will follow once that is done. I have a 302A XLT though so it's not like I'm gonna get Bluecruise at the end. I just want to be running the most current software and get myself to a state where future OTAs work. After this adventure I'm also considering adding adaptive cruise and LKA since that's the one feature I really wanted that my truck didn't have

Affirm, after going through them all I only have GSM (known issue even though I applied it) and APIM (which is 1.7.1 which didn't kick off as expected). Also ACM which failed but I don't have the fancy sound system so I'm not convinced it's gonna work anyway.

When you say available in FDRS, can you be more specific?

K, forget my last response. What was wrong doing the APIM update? Failure, error popped up?

Strange that you would have different cameras at speed functionality than others unless you had Forscan edited values before the updates?

The sidebar camera is the bed camera for me.
Full screen camera is either bed or hitch.
I did make IPMA changes in the past, but I restored to as built prior to making any FDRS updates.

I went back and looked through the 5 posts you made and saw this. Let me ask you a question, have you tried another 64GB USB stick maybe a USB 3.0 one?

USB inserted and never kicked off. Have driven it multiple times, however have only given it a day or two vice the weeks some have given. Similar to what I've seen others experience. Eventually it is supposed to just kick off at some point and everything is good from there on out. My understanding from reading the TSB and looking at the procedure referenced by it in FDRS is 22-2117 resets APIM and TCU tables which is supposed to fix whatever is preventing 1.7.1 from starting from USB. I have the referenced symptoms:

• 2021 F-150/Mustang Mach-E
• Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display or FordPass
• Inability to update the APIM or TCU using the FDRS and USB drive

Regarding:

I was probably a little hasty in posting that because it was very late at night. Traced that issue to bad wifi. Eventually FDRS downloaded all of the required files including the "error" ones and prompted me to create the USB. It's a 128GB USB 3.0 exFAT formatted with no files on it. Which is when nothing happened. I'll keep driving around with it inserted in the meantime and see if it finally goes.
