can always try swapping the speakers out for some good ones. Did that to a friends Bronco ( big style) and it made huge difference in sound quality
I called an installer couple of days ago that I found from a google search. He's about 40 miles away from me in east peoria. He said the same thing which I had thought about already and you said. Swap in some different speakers.

He recommended Hertz speakers but then he said a little Memphis amp would wake those up even more. Another rabbit hole to head down I guess. Just have to figure out my priorities and decide what makes me happiest. (I do like to crank it up occasionally.)

Just be careful, I dont know how Ford is but RAM integrates everything thru the stereo and any incursion to the wiring harness that isn’t plug/play (ie adding a amp) will void the warranty. They use CANBUS technology on their wiring and even swapping LED lights can make the computer go batsh*t crazy

Any you tube videos of the sound yet?

Single cabs I’ve owned:

1974 Dodge D150 shortbed stepside. Loved it til it dropped a valve…sold it to someone that turned it into a drag truck.

1990 Chev S10 shortbed. 4.3V6/5 spd…. Quick little SOB

1991 Chev S10 shortbed. Spun main bearing 2 weeks after bought it.

1999 Dodge Dakota 318/5spd 4X4 Supposedly one of the last of that engine combo Dodge made.

2003 Chev Silverado longbed. Only had 4.3V6 but still towed my Coronet thru the mountains of NC and VA without a hitch. Good truck but sucked gad worse than the Dakota and got rid if it a week before Katrina hit (100 mile round trip for work saved a buttload in gas that year)

2008 Chev Silverado shortbed… good truck but sold cause of rust issues.

2012 RAM 150O longbed. 2weeks after getting back from deer hit broke valve spring. Figured was being told something traded in on a 2014. Truck ran high 14’s in 1/4 mile and took second at Mapar Atlantic Nationals in 2013

2014 RAM 1500 4x4 short box. Good truck but after transmission issues, dealer rebuilding entire rear end cause front wheel bearing was bad and 2 hit an runs to rear bumper got rid of it

2016 Chev Silverado shortbed. Not most comfortable on long trips which I do lot of so adios amigo

1977 Dodge D150 short box. Leaning tower of power and 3spd. Bought to tinker with, couldn’t find a leanburn conversion kit so wound up giving it to a buddy down south who still having trouble getting it to run right

and in a couple months a 2022 F150 standard cab short box

Awful lot of mopars in there to become a ford fan isn't there? (just kidding)

we used to get chrysler discounts when I worked for mitsubishi so a lot of co-workers would get dodges. Always seemed to be someone complaining about being in the shop having the tranny replaced.

My first ford single cab was I believe a 1976 f100 or f150 depending on which fender you were looking at. It was that orange with the black stripe that went down the sides and up over the hood. rust everywhere, think I paid $300 or $400 for it.

Had a piece of particle board in the bed to keep the beer cans from falling through. We were eco conscious teens even back then by recycling. Mainly to buy more beer. Not a lot to do in corn country.

Then I had a ranger stx and that thing was fun. back then the stx was considered an upgrade and had stripes all over it but it also had locking rear so I went places others feared plus remember the beer cans. lol

Then I moved into supercabs and supercrews because of the pesky wife thing.

She moved back to australia and I treated myself to a 2003 lightning. Still miss that truck.

I had a dead space for a while then I bought a 2010 f150 single cab shortbed 2 wheel drive traded it for a 2013 ex uhaul truck long bed two wheel drive. Then moved back into a supercab and here we are today waiting for the wanna be a lightning truck. Same color just need that whipple! There was nothing like that supercharger screaming at you. Might be too old school to put a body kit on it like a lightning! Do they even make those anymore? hmmm

On another note, anybody know the weight capacity and metal of the factory running boards on our trucks?

The Romik ad that runs on here lured me in and I see they have a 500 pound capacity plus are aluminum with lifetime warranty. It's that second guessing problem kicking in again.

My 15 scab had factory running boards but I never checked to see if they were aluminum.

*****EDIT********
I called ford again today (11-15) just for s and g to find out the capacity for the running boards. I had less than stellar results this time. The person on the phone didn't know AND consulted with their information team which didn't know either.. And we wonder why it takes so long to get one.

GOOD NEWS!

All those "warm & fuzzy" Ford posts are finally paying off!

Negotiations for my release are underway and productive.
My truck has been built, shipped and delivered to the Dealership.

My ransom has been assembled and ready to deliver to my captures as soon as they have done the Dealer Prep.

My treatment while in captivity for the last EIGHT MONTHS has left no visible scars but my Truck is "black and blue"!;)

WISH ME LUCK!

10 miles +/-

I expect to drive her home Wednesdayish...
Then leveling, tint, tires, rims, solid tonneau and Decked drawers.

But I want to put 500-1000 miles on her before I do anything just so we can get to know each other.

I passed on Power Tailgate, sliding rear window and Block Heater.
Other than that, she's FULLY loaded.

After 8-months it's almost surreal to think I'll be driving my new F150 so it doesn't even feel "real" yet.

I was a little surprised to find Pirelli Scorpions on her.
WTF?!!
It's supposed to be a 4X4!

Is that "normal"? I don't recall seeing any FX4s with Pirelli Scorpions....

Who the hell would try to go "off road" with Pirelli Scorpions?

Somebody call me a tow truck!

They seem to be quality tires but I was expecting something with a little more "bite" on a FX4.

I could park a semi in the space between the rear tires and the wheel well.

It doesn't matter though... new meat was always part of the "plan" anyway...
