I've noticed the last couple of times I've gone camping that Zone lighting controls are missing from the app. Having to get in the truck and mess with it makes the feature a complete pain. Is there some setting somewhere I need to enable to make it show up in the app?

Surely they didn't remove it from the app completely, that would be about the dumbest thing I can think of.

That's absolutely infuriating. They basically removed a feature of my truck (one they definitely advertised)

It feels like manufacturers are slowly going the route of monetizing every single creature comfort available on modern vehicles. Pretty soon to use anything remotely useful, it will be a fee. Likewise with right to repair. I can't even bleed my brakes the conventional way. The newer 2021+ and up models require a pressure bleeder and a scan tool like FDRS (or likewise compatible scan tool). Nice if you have one, but they want to design it in way that's it's too cost prohibitive for you, so you have no choice but to come in to the dealer for service (yet another microtransaction).

Make no mistake, automotive servicing is a huge cash cow. One of the byproducts of optimizing the assembly line in terms of cost & efficiency is serviceability. For certain parts this could be a good thing (easier to work on) or a bad thing (i.e. expensive tool or extensive labor is required). Customer needs as well as regulatory compliance shifts the landscape as well. To charismatically parody the infamous words of AC/DC, "For those with a three on a tree... WE SALUTE YOU."

Oh yeah, I'm sure that the reason Ford developed the latest sophisticated ABS / Traction Control systems requiring special tools to service is just to drive owners to dealers (or properly equipped independent shops) for that service.

Sorry but I should be able to bleed my brakes without requiring an expensive scan tool. I get why its required due to the complexity as you mentioned, but that's exactly it, you made it sophisticated so I CANT do it.

Here is Fords launch presser for the 2021's

"Customers can keep going into the night with exclusive available Zone Lighting. This allows
occupants to turn on and off individual sections of exterior lights through the SYNC® 4 screen or
remotely with the FordPass app
on their phone, so they never have to work, camp or do
anything in the dark"

I know there are lawyers lurking these threads. this needs to be a class action suit.

The feature worked great. Why remove it? It makes absolutely no sense.

I was able to sideload an older version of ford pass and it worked, but they crippled that about 2 weeks ago :(

Throwing it out there for the tech savvy people who made the remote start iOS shortcuts: can we leverage existing code to make a shortcut for zone lighting?

Maybe we should all get an appointment at the dealer to fix the problem because it's not working as advertised.
