I got the 302A. I actually prefer the column shifter to the console one. More room for one, and less chances of the issues you're seeing people come up with, where it's getting stuck in park and they have to replace the entire gear shifting mechanism.

The only thing that I really wish I could have in the XLT is 4 Auto. If there was a way to do a conversion, to put in the 4A transfer case and reprogram via Forscan, I'd gladly pay someone for that ability.

Well I am just nuts about my 502A high Lariat SuperCab I waited 18 weeks for and got in July. I just wish the 2.7 would get reasonable gas mileage. NO, it is NOT from bad driving habits.

I wish the HDPP could be in the XLT High so I could get B&O (basic) and a few ot

Lariat 502A has the wireless charging pad.
Must have changed it for 2022. My bad. I know my 2021 doesn’t.

Boils down to one thing and one thing only imho.

Creature comforts.

I can spec a F-150 XL to a higher tow rating than any other F-150 trim because it isn’t going to be weighed down by unnecessary creature comforts. But I’m getting long in the tooth and my hands like to remind me when it’s 8* F outside that I’ve worked hard and I deserve a heated steering wheel, boom, at Lariat already. I mean that’s just one thing, maybe you really want leather or a remote start from the factory, minimum XLT.

I guess one thing that may not be a “creature comfort” so much as a personal preference is exterior color and some are locked to a minimum or maximum trim.

At the end of the day, all these trims sans Raptor share identical frames, drivetrains, and bodies, the rest is gravy.

I gotta say it's a bit bargain basement, but i ordered mine with the 301A package to save a couple of bucks and it's fantastic. Leather wrapped wheel, nice climate control, 8" screen is big enough for me (sometimes i even turn it off), good sound system. heres a pic

i went and spent a bit extra on some convenience things for myself, good tonneau cover, tailgate step, 5.0L V8, 4x4, side step bars

just food for thought, i paid 43 grand USD for the truck out the door including taxes and everything!!

Cool! Say, what's your payload? And how's your mpg so far?

Power tailgate: Not sure it is standard, you have to get the Bed Utility package for the powered tailgate. You then also get BED lights, step and boxlink

wireless charger: also included in my lariat '22 DORA as $0. Do not think it is from KR and up.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

(Funny how we all have to speculate given that Ford cannot update their damn build site) Imagine if you were ordering a F150 now and you had no idea about this forum or the order guides, and you just relied on your local sleaseman........I mean salesman. You will likely be in for one hell of a surprise.
Oh man, that's me right now! I'm trying to wrap my head around order options for a new F-150 to suite my needs; I posted a call fo help here:
https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...new-truck-blending-payload-off-road-hwy.8194/

4 salesmen at 3 dealerships in 3 states -- none of them seem to know much of anything about the actual truck details and options. "Option weights? Huh?" Why should I be the one forwarding Ford press releases, etc. to _them_?!

I am _very_ grateful for y'all here...

The salesman I dealt with does 100% of the ordering for the dealership I went through and he's been in that position for about 20 years. I trust what he has to say. When I placed my order back in October, he stated that higher trim levels that contain a feature as standard will be built faster than a lower trim level with that same feature added as an option. If you want your truck as fast as possible, get whatever trim contains the options you need rather than adding them to a lesser trim.
I followed this and went with a Platinum. Coming from an X5 I wanted a similar experience but wanted Tow mirrors so I couldn't get a Limited.

I can't give you an overview but I can tell you I stepped up to a Lariat 502A because it's the lowest level with a heated steering wheel which can't be ordered as a separate add on. Sometimes it's as simple as that, you are locked in to a minimum model and option package to get one thing you really want/need.
That's an expensive heated steering wheel.

I couldn’t get a 402a because it doesn’t have power boost option.

I had to get 502a for the auto leveling headlights. I didn’t get a 700 series truck because of that gaudy road sign they crimp into the tail gate. The massive tramp stamp punched into the tail gate of the lower trims isn’t much better.

Cheers,

Sorry about the wireless charger info! I haven't been to the build&price since the very first weeks of the '21 models being open. All my info is based on having the whole thing memorized from that time. Sounds like they've changed some little things around, for example I never heard of a "bed utility package" at all!

I'll refrain from commenting since my feature set is out of date now.

That's my favorite F-150 grille, short of the Platinum & Limited.

Most of the time I've gotten by with more minimalist interiors. $$ being one major reason. Also, with the HDPP I got with my current truck, the most I could get was mid 301A. Biggest creature comfort was the power drivers seat.

This time, gettinf the PB, I went with the XLT 302A, which provides 2 great creature comforts. Individual temperature controls, and heated seats, along with power seats on both sides.

My biggest gripe with building out my truck is that Ford does a great job of forcing you to a higher trim/equipment group for seemingly small features that cannot be added individually.

I was set on having power folding mirrors because I have a double garage with two small single doors, and would otherwise need to manually fold/unfold both mirrors everytime I park in the garage. That automatically forces you to a Lariat or higher. Ended up going 501a as I wanted the Sport package, which cannot be added to a 500a base Lariat. Ford does this with other things like heated steering wheel which requires 502a and is not available separately, kind of frustrating when other manufactures are more flexible but I know I'll be happy with the truck either way.

I do find it odd that 502a requires the Co-Pilot 360 Active package to get front parking sensors whereas 501a and lower include those with Co-Pilot Assist, so that is one thing I was thankful for, but if I did go 502a I would have been pretty frustrated with that. All these packages and options along with their prerequisites add up quickly and I had to draw a line somewhere... I recommend studying the order guide in depth before making a final decision.
