Just remember that forums such as this are magnets for problem reports
Exactly that... No one ever logs in to brag about their truck being problem free or YELP about a good restaurant experience. Its 99% of the time a negative complaint...

Just ystrdy called Doctors office to inform Office Manager, one of her staff, "Liz" went over and above to get my son an appointment with a specialist, next-day, its normally a 30-60 day wait. Nice of her to go over and above to help my son who's home from college for just another week or so....

Side note, 2022 Platty\PB, problem free so far, (20,064 miles)

I know just from the sheer number of F-150's from 2021 on some are bound to have issues. Even with a XL trim. I watched a 25 minute video of a 2017 Raptor owner with multiple warranty issues and the 2nd owner was shocked he didn't get a pickup as a loaner. On the Fit forum many were mad a little piece of trim on the steering wheel was a 'tiny' bit crooked lolol! So I know owners can be unreasonable. I'm new to Ford trucks and still working out the acronyms and the history of the strike and Covid supply problems it caused Ford. My most recent insight was Job 1 and Job 2 meaning that Job 1 was early built trucks. I have decided to wait until February to order my truck in the hope I might get a better built truck since I'm not in any big hurry.
I gotta check with Granger tho..I don't want to miss the 4% back of invoice!

Ok, I will get up on my soapbox and brag about my 21 job 1 platinum and how wonderful the truck has been. It's not a Powerboost, but still it has only been to the dealer for a leaky front diff seal and whatever recall Ford sends our way. 2.5 yrs old and with 26,000 trouble free miles. O and by the way, I also have a stellar dealership that sold me the truck. Located just 9 miles from me.
Truly, if I had found this forum before ordering my truck I might have had second thoughts, but probably not.

I never bought into gadgets & gizmos in all applications from stoves to watches to computers to phones, etc. But that is just me and I pay for what I need. We see people clinging to the smart phones as they are being mauled by a grizzly bear. How sad it is to see the degree of "need" for more and more technology in simple everyday living. I have a cartoon on my office wall showing the manger saying to his personnel, "Now that the computers are down does anyone remember how to do anything"?

I fix software bugs!
So my question is if you buy a XL SHOULD you have fewer problems?
This line of thinking is what pushed me to a 2022 STX. Not only that, but a 5.0 no less. I owned a 2018 King Ranch and a 2020 Platinum. The gizmos and gadgets were cool and fun (I'm a computer geek), but I lost interest after a while. None of those features needed service, ever, but I did have 4 transmissions bleed out on the highway between the two trucks, but that can happen with my XL/STX too.

Get what you like. If you want butt and back massage seats, adaptive cruise, lane assist, what ever get a model that has those things. Get the XL/STX for the overall simplicity. Know that it has computers and software too, it just doesn't have the hardware to talk to. I don't believe the hardware is the issue, but rather the software/module integration/communication that isn't tested enough before a new release/version. I write software and bugs in hardware and software happen all the time (acceptable risk). Today's vehicles have a bazillion computers and a lot of software/code running them...... now if I could only get the backup lights working on my '69 Vette ;)

Bought a early built 21 302a XLT PB drove it for over a year only issues were the wiper motor recall and the drooping exhaust heat shield which effected most F150 no matter which trim level. Traded the 21PB off for personal reasons for a 22 302a XLT with the 2.7EB payload package. Ordered the (22) in 12 of 21, built late 03 of 22, drove it home early 04 of 22. Jan of 23 battery went kaput on the 22 had it replaced at the same time had the wiper motor changed out, July had the 2nd oil change, at that time had the driving light flicker recall done. Rest is smiles and miles which now is at 11,500.

The 21 and 22 trucks were connected to the house WIFI and receive all updates. There is a parameter for updates to happen when the truck is least to be used, along with a very good WIFI signal there has been no update issues on either vehicle nor the spouses 19 Escape Titanium bought new in 19. Bad WIFI or taking off during a update to disrupt downloading information can lead to bad or corrupted update information.

Go for the Trim level truck of your suiting. Chased the you need a Lariat you need a Platinum rabbits down their holes only to find out a XLT is the best fit here.

Have a Happy and safe new year.

I agree.... there is no 'wrong decision' in what someone chooses for their truck. Its like telling someone at Baskin Robins, they are wrong for choosing, Rocky Road over Chocolate Chip.

Im with ya and as Ive said before, much to the disapproval of James "The Snowflake" Expedition, I prefer my Mocha getter, Pavement Princess, whatever ya wanna call it.
Our lake place is 54mins away and after a weekend of JetSkiing and Boating, my 53yr old bod, prefers the MCS seats, which I can only get in a Platty or Lim. I get that, thats pretty, petty. But it is what it is.
If I could trade my truck for your 2.7L in a Platty level, I'd do it in two seconds. That engine would have no problem, towing my boat, jetskis or tractor.
It really is up to the person and their own flavor of ice cream.... :)

Side note, I think your truck looks great.

I'm really glad I am NOT ordering a high trim new 2024 after reading about so many problems on the 2021-2023 trucks..I almost wish I hadn't gone in 5 pages of this sub forum lol! I understand there's a lot of folks with no problems at all but what worries me is all the problems caused by updates and how vulnerable some of the basic functions are like just starting the truck. I held off from buying a 2023 (single cab short bed) just to get the 12" screen.
After reading about so many problems with battery issues especially not driving enough to fully charge on the higher trims I have already decided to upgrade the factory battery to the best most powerful one that will fit as one of my first mod's because I consider reliability to start and run vital..even if it sits for weeks. I have decided a extended warranty with first day loaner to be a absolute necessity. Especially buying the truck from Granger. What really concerns me more than anything else is how long many dealers have to sechdel out any service or warranty problem basically keeping your truck hostage. And not just waiting for parts!
So my question is if you buy a XL SHOULD you have fewer problems?

You may as well not buy any car due to all the reported auto accidents and fatalities on the road reported in the news? I am not trying to be a dick, but your logic here is based on confirmation bias. It's fine to buy an XL but don't excuse your way out of buying a higher trim F150 because of "problems."

diambo4life its really all about what you can get in a 2024 single cab. And that's not very much at all lolol! 4×4 chrome bumpers and privacy rear glass is it.. not even carpet..Fortunately the basic truck is exactly what I want. It just so happens it's the cheepest new F-150 you can buy.
To try to understand all the new tech I've been pouring over basically all the threads of 2021 to present including what problems owners have experienced. XL trims do not include a lot of systems most trucks have but in 2024 do include the 12" screen. I'm pleasantly surprised the 5.0 and 10 speed transmission have very very few problems.

2023 XL 3.5 EB 4x4 standard cab long bed, max tow (7 tons) max payload (1.5 tons) packages 'no frills' from the dealership. Titus-Will of Tacoma, Wa life time warranty on the drive train. Replaces a 1989 4x4 Lariat crew cab long bed 460 with a C6 power robbing trans. Sure seems high tech to me, I don't even have to get out of the truck to lock the hubs AND the windows and radio works!
My only complaints - I had to purchase OEM rear wheel well liners, OEM rubber mats to put down on the rubber floor liner, and opted for a DualLiner bed liner, cargo tie downs, and Aries RidgeStep Running Boards. Makes for a dream truck come true in my world.

I could have done without the chrome bumper, other than that the dealership had exactly what I wanted on the lot. No frills XL standard cab long bed 4x4, didn't even come with rear wheel well liners, or carpet (no loss on the carpet thing). Max tow and payload packages made for a max happy customer though!
