Got it and good! I use a Canton Racing Products 8µ filter along with a 1µ bypass filter. I'm setup to draw samples while the engine is running instead of trying to grab one while draining the pan. I'm beginning to get frustrated with Blackstone. They take so long after a sample is received that they'll over run the next interval or I end up changing oil on GP.

Neither can maintain grade for under 5k, pass.

4000 mile oil changes are a WASTE of these oils!!! easy 10K oils!! but ok---
Impossible for the amount of idling these modern engines due. The oil would go that long without fuel dilution.

I know it's a completely different oil nearly 40 years later but I'm still scarred by my experience helping a neighbor work on his engines in the late '80s when I was a child.

His hot rod car was running Amsoil and when we pulled it apart the engine looked like new inside. We pulled another engine of his apart running Quaker State and when the valve cover came off there was just a little spot for the rocker arms and the rest of the valve cover was packed full of build up from the engine oil and he had me scraping it out with a big flat blade screwdriver in gaint chunks.

I'm sure any differences now though are miniscule.

even base conventional doesn’t do that. I pulled my 5.4 3-valve apart at 161,000 miles and there was zero sludge anywhere. Always had conventional oil (Motorcraft) every 5k miles. I’m sure the Pennzoil Platinum I am using every 5k miles will keep my 5.0 just as clean if not cleaner.

Let's be honest. Anyone buying a used truck would be good to buy one from someone in this thread. Your average F-150 owner runs the cheapest oil till the truck reminds them to change it. And they probably wait another month. And those trucks typically still perform well.

Good discussion! Synthetic for the win.
