It's a pretty common upgrade to Mustangs and F-150s. Great if you tow. Just that most I've seen explicitly say they aren't compatible with the PowerBoost.

Let's be honest. Anyone buying a used truck would be good to buy one from someone in this thread. Your average F-150 owner runs the cheapest oil till the truck reminds them to change it. And they probably wait another month. And those trucks typically still perform well.

These are tips for best performance, not for $ savings.
My bad on the secondary cooling system being for the engine. It is not.
I have not calculated the power draw of an engine block heater nor the $ per kw/hr which varies by everywhere. The engine will run better if it is at...
Indeed. You can tell Ford knew that this was an issue with slow warm up due to the fact they actually have two coolant reservoirs, one for initial warm up, the other regular.
Things I wish I knew at the beginning.
Engine needs heat! I noticed that it took 7 miles for the engine and transmission to get to full operating temperature. I got terrible mileage until then.
Got an engine block heater/oil pan heater.
Drive the truck in Sport Mode until it's up to temp...
Dude. Yes. It was tested exactly like that.

It comes down to do you want 20hp, a .6 faster 0-60 and .6mpg better mileage for $360 a year. That's the difference between 87 and 93 octane. The cost between them is even cheaper at Costco.
Let me summarize it all:
You can run 87 just fine
Like all Ecoboosts you'll get more power and mileage from 91/93 octane
No, the mileage gain won't cover the cost of premium
Running E10/all gas doesn't matter much. If anything turbos like alcohol as long as you don't store it for longer than a...
There are two threads every truck forum has to have.
1. MPG thread
2. Oil change thread
It does make me roll my eyes knowing your tells you when to change your oil so you know exactly when! And that's assuming conventional oil!!!
Mobil 1 will warranty your motor at 20k mile oil changes...
That ethanol line is ridiculous. Every pump has had E10 standard for 20 years. Every tuned Ecoboost can run on E30 all day. If a dealer says that just tell them it's not 1995 and they shouldn't sell trucks in 2023.
While out camping this weekend saw two other powerboosts. One also had the drooping felt pan. Saw several other 14th gen's on the highway with them sagging as well. Great trucks, just a sloppy detail by Ford.
? agree on the rough shifting. My wife's Durango with the 8 speed auto was worlds smoother.
Took my truck in 6k miles ago to get the tsb done on the transmission and it's been night and day difference. While still not quite as smooth as the Mopar, it isn't far off now. Sooooo much better. Used...
