This function has stopped working for the last two days. I noticed it when the wireless Carplay refused to connect.
Firstly, I reset the Sync several times as this has previously solved some wireless Carplay issues, but not this time. This morning I plugged in Forscan to see if there were any APIM codes, nothing shown.
Before I take it to the dealer, I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this. I also wanted to see if anyone knows what other functions might be compromised by this fault. It's not a hardship to plug in a USB before driving. I did notice that some of my saved settings were changed (24-hour clock & °C are old military habits) back to the default, but there were no official update notices on the truck or Ford Pass.

Have you been able to figure it out? Mine is doing the exact same.

My truck was in the dealer yesterday. I had two of the three recalls done and a service. They also checked again on the "Carplay - Wireless App Projection" fault. All my updates were complete, the most recent being 23-PU1113-UNX-DC on Mar 6th so my Carplay issue appeared before this update. They could not fix the issue with software, so I am now waiting on a replacement APIM

2021 F150 Lariat build date march 2021.

I’ve got the same problem. But a few others to add.
-ford pass won’t connect
- zone lighting doesn’t work

been dropping it off at dealer every couple weeks when the shop hears back from Ford on the follow up steps.

just picked it back up from dealer today. After some more pin point testing they Found the antenna to be faulty. Maybe mine was in the middle of an update, antenna somehow fails, and caused the other problems?

@Austinp26 Were you having connection issues on Carplay or had the non functioning switch, or both?

@LimeyinTX

both

It’s been an ongoing issue. Have had it at the dealer a few times for it and the guy working on it is pretty good with fords. Said he hasn’t seen something like this before.

I’ve done my due diligence and haven’t found a solution either. I haven’t wanted to dive in much with the software but before brining to dealer I did disconnect battery for 24hrs, then tried disconnecting the TCU (behind rear seat for 24hrs), master reset, and FordPass reset. turned the antenna connection status on and it always is red - no connection.

Antenna is on back order of course so not sure when I’ll have an update.
I guess mine is a little more severe than yours. There’s been talk of potentially needing to replace the apim but we’ll see with the new antenna if the truck can communicate and perform an OTA update.

Update
The replacement of the APIM fixed the Wireless App Projection fault. So, it appears that my issue was not caused by an update, just a hardware failure.

@LimeyinTX good to hear. They are replacing the antenna Thursday. If I still can’t connect to the towers I’ll probably need a new APIM too.

Mine started to do the same thing a month ago. No more wireless CarPlay. I have an iPhone 15. The phone had an update and a day later sync4 had an update so I don't know which one killed it. My other car works fine with my phone. The dealer replaced a media module, still has the same issue. I have to use a cord to connect CarPlay and have to turn off WiFi on the phone otherwise it won't load google maps or play pandora. Interestingly the dealer tech was able to connect two older iPhones without problem.

I had a similar issue today.

I haven't had any updates since March 14.

But this morning, I fired up the truck as normal, and Car Play didn't connect. I got a grey pop up about using the USB to connect, then the screen went totally black (all while I'm driving). I'm thinking...wait, did my screen just die. Then it reboots itself (75th Anniversary Screen, etc.) and all is working normal except CarPlay still is not connecting.

I drove it home, let it sit for a bit, and then went out for another drive. Same issue, no CarPlay.

When I pulled up the App screen and CarPlay, and saw my phone, I hit the CarPlay icon, and was prompted by the screen asking me if I wanted to do Wireless App Projection. Hit yes, and then everything connected fine.

Not sure how this would all the sudden be turned off. Odd. Hope it doesn't happen again.

Update: My issues aren't over.

Last night, no issues, worked like it has for over a year.

This morning, issues was back. Upon start up, CarPlay did not connect. And the App "Button" on the screen wasn't working either. I tried it many times, and it was just not registering my touch, and appeared to be locked up. XM radio was working. I drove down the road a bit, and just like yesterday, the screen rebooted/went black for a bit, fired back up with the 75th Anniversary screen, and the app button worked. I again had to hit "YES" for the App Projection prompt, and then all seemed to work as normal for the rest of the short trip.

I'm really hoping that this is a temp hiccup, and not something that I'm going to have to live with. Not sure what changed. I don't show any update since March 14th, and the Ford Pass app appears to be working as before. But something is for sure going on.

I have notice that my screen will vary is brightness once in a while. Like all will be normal and the screen is in daytime mode, and then all the sudden it will get super bright for a bit, and then go back to normal. No idea what that is.

@rugedraw Tagging you on this topic....have you been hearing anything about real recent hiccups with CarPlay. Mine has worked really well for the past year. It was only a couple of days aga that I now have had some issue, but seemingly with no new updates to Ford Pass, or any software updates to the truck. My most recent update doesn't even list a number, and it just titled "Smart Changes" and happened on March 14th.

Here it is below....
