My phone (Samsung Galaxy S21+) was updated to Android 15/One UI 7 and since the update it won't connect to Android Auto through wireless.

Well, sort of.

It connects and disconnects non-stop, as you can see in the video below.

I spent a couple of hours trying to investigate and tweak some settings and this is what I found:

1. The phone is connected to the truck's wifi. Not sure if it matters, but it is connected.

2. Turns out that the problem is the two BT settings Calls and Audio. This continuous connecting/disconnecting happens when the two are ON, or "connected for calls and audio". When they are off, as in this picture, it will hold a wireless Android Auto connection.

3. The problem is - when these two are OFF, I see on the SYNC screen when a call is coming and I can even answer the call by pressing on the SYNC screen, however I won't hear the phone ringing through AA nor will I hear the caller. Weird.

4. Even while connected, the phone keeps searching for Android Auto:

5. It also throws weird messages while connected via wireless, such as "AA Needs Notification Access". Notification Access is ON.

6. I can disable Wireless Mirroring in SYNC and connect via USB cable, it connects and works without a problem, but it's a PITA. It also throws this error message - again, not sure why because it is connected and working:

It is 100% my phone and not the truck; I tested my wife's S22+, also after Android 15/One UI 7 update, and it connects immediately without any issue. So something either got messed up in the phone's BT during the update, or it is a compatibility issue.

Does anyone have any idea where to look/how to try and fix this, or is it time for a new phone? Sure, I can work with the USB cable, but it is much less convenient.

Thanks.

Delete the BT pairing on the phone.
Remove phone from Sync.
Re-pair the devices (BT)
I'd probably reboot Sync and the phone, too.

I have the S21+ Ultra. Got the update a couple weeks ago. Works fine. No need for a new phone.

I forgot to mention this in the original post - I did all of the above several times. I also reset the phone's wifi and BT. None of that helped.

My S24 did the same thing after the initial Android 15/One UI 7 update. I got another update on the phone about a week later and the problem cleared up. Go into your phone settings and see if there is an update out there and manually install it.

This gives me hope :) , and peace of mind that it's not a "single phone went bad". I've been checking for another update every day, will keep doing so and hopefully avoid a new phone. Thanks!

This issue may have been resolved, meaning - I believe I found the cause.

Turns out that I have two instances of Android Auto app installed on the phone, which probably happened during the phone update. One of them has a little blue thingy on it, as you can see in the screenshot below, not sure what this blue thing is, but both instances are the same version. It looks like that while the phone connects to SYNC through one of the AA Apps, the second instance is trying (and succeeding) to connect, disconnecting the previous occurrence, then they switch "turns", hence the constant connect/disconnect.
You cannot uninstall AA from the phone in late Android versions, only Disable it. I was worried that it would "Enable" itself after a while, or after a phone re-boot, but several phone restarts kept the "Blue version" Disabled and the phone connected wirelessly to SYNC and remained connected, so hopefully it will remain like this.
One interesting thing is - while Disabling the blue one kept the other one Enabled and active, disabling Permissions only in one app affected the other.
