Has anyone here had their windshield tinted. I am looking at doing a 70 all around the truck including the windshield but I was wondering if you can stick stuff to it. I have an inspection sticker in the lower drivers corner. How is that handled. Usually they take a razor and scrap off the old one to put on the new one. This would not be possible with the tint.

I also have an ez pass but that does not require any scrapping to remove.

What have you done with attaching something to the inner windshield with tinting?

Virginia allows a 70% tint on the windshield? Most states allow none, some let you tint above the AS Line (which is generally the top 5"). Never heard of any state allowing that level of tint on the whole windshield. Texas allows a UV blocking surface on the windshield that you can get away with it being a tad tinted because it isn't technically tint, but that would be less than 10% darker than the glass.

Do it!!!! 70% on the windshield is amazing! You cannot tell it is tinted, inside or out! You can look on my build thread for specific pics! But my side windows are no where near legal!!

70% is next to nothing, and they call it tinting but it is like you say a UV blocker. However you are correct I just checked and VA does let you tint to the AS line and that is all. I could have sworn I read that VA is like some of the more southern states that allow light tinting (UV blocking) on the entire windshield. I would have lost that bet. I do want the two side front windows done to block some of the UV coming in from there. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

This sucker sits in the VA sun from sun up to sun down, no garage for this girl. :(

Mine in TX. No cover. I need to look into tint sooner rather than later. Trying to find a good ceramic/tint combo vendor.

i’ve had 50% windshield on my past 3 vehicles. will never look back. professional window tint shops will use “ez stick” for all of your windshield mounted decals/tags.

I guess it depends where you live, bit I've had 50% tint on the front, on multiple vehicles, over many years.

Don't drive like a jackass, and you won't stand out.

Disclaimer: I live in Florida. Probably 60% of the cars have tintied windshields and law enforcement generally doesn't care.

70-80% heat rejection film will have the same effect, with obviously least darkness.

I've never found it to be too dark day or night though, and worst case (in FL) it's a fix-it ticket. Leave the tint, pay the fine and everyone is happy.

I had my windshield and two windows in the front doors tinted to match the rear factory tint. I also have a clash cam mounted to the windshield. The place that did my tint just has me come back in three weeks after the windshield tint to attached the dash cam to the windshield. I wpuld upload ics, but for some reason I can't get the pics to upload to this site. I have a galaxy s24+ (3months old), so not sure why

I have ceramic tint all the way around with the windshield having clear ceramic. In Texas not suppose to have a tinted windshield but you know how that goes. Love the UV protection & keeps the cab from getting not as hot as other tints. No issues with my inspection sticker, toll tag and camera. I can pull all off with not messing up the tint.

VA rules copied here:

Below are the maximum amounts of window tint legal for Virginia passenger vehicles.
Windshield: Only non-reflective tints above the AS-1 line.
Front side windows: 50%
Rear side windows: 35%
Rear window: 35%

You're inviting attention from the Police with anything else. VA State Police are the worst in the nation (NC next) They travel in packs....

Get stopped for something like this and they'll tow your car as its not legal set up as you propose.

We've been in JAX for 17+ years, but grew up and lived in RVA for many more. We visit a few times a year since we still have family there. Henrico County and the VA State Police get off on catching traffic violators and even hassling people for smiling on a cloudy day. They get off on that shit. We have 70% on the front windshield, but then again, over half the vehicles in FL have windshield film. If the police in VA want to harass you because they can, they will as it is obvious it isn't clear like a fish bowl. Now, I've driven past quite a few of them in the last few years on visits and been good so far since we don't have front plates, but not sure what they'd do if there was a VA front plate.

This is what 70% on the front windshield looks like to help you decide:

@lrb_35128 recently posted he got 80%, which wouldn't be as dark. Maybe he can post some pics for you too:

Had my windshield tinted to match factory tint. I also had the driver/passenger front doors tinted to match rear factory tint. I would upload pics, but I have trouble doing so on this site even though i have a new Samsung galaxy s24+.

I don't know what OH law is regarding tint. Frankly, I don't care. I've been pulled over twice in 3 years and neither time did the officer mention my tint.

50% tint on mine for as long as I have had my truck. If you get a vehicle inspection, in a strict state, they can fail you but even 50%, I have to tell people riding in the car that my windshield has tint. It's almost imperceptible. You notice it from outside though. I have a pike pass I use for the parking garage at work. It picks it up just fine.
