Why would a wheel speed sensor disable the pedestrian sounder?

The cascade of errors in this truck is driving me crazy.
Fault on the rear wheel speed sensor disables the cruise control and blue cruise. I understand that; I can see the wrong speed in the speedo indicating 35mph while I was just seconds ago and am still going 70mph.
But why am I losing the pedestrian sounder and forward collision warning? I think even the orange lights in the mirrors gave up after that error.

Cruise, bluecruise, ABS and advancetrac I can understand. Still what a mess for a single bad sensor.
I'm guessing front collision warning is dependent on speed to know if/when you will hit something.
But the pedestrian sounder... whaa???

Forward collision warning would rely on knowing the vehicle speed, no? Possibly same for pedestrian sounder?

Maybe I misunderstand what pedestrian sounder is.
Is it the noise my powerboost makes as it backs up in all electric or is it some kind of warning in a pedestrian walks in front/behind the truck?

I don't know, I don't have a truck with that. I was guessing that maybe it's a sound that is made in electric mode below a certain speed on a powerboost to warn pedestrians when the truck is otherwise quiet enough to sneak up on people.

The pedestrian sounder essentially does two things. It creates an artificial electric whirling motor noise when the truck is moving with the electrical motor and it makes the boing sound when backing up.

I recently had all the faults you had plus about three or four more when I had a left rear wheel speed sensor fail. It affected almost every system to include a pedestrian sounder fault.

I don’t know why it would affect that system, but it did

The pedestrian sounder is a fake engine noise from the front speaker so pedestrians can hear you coming because EV mode is so quiet. Federal law requires it.

Because the pedestrian sounder is only active at slow speeds while the vehicle is operating in "all electric" mode, if the system doesn't accurately sense speed, you can expect it and other systems which use speed as an input could malfunction.

Likewise, if the sensor which tell the systems you're backing up were to fail, you might well expect the "boing" sound made when backing up to be suppressed. (Or maybe be on all the time...? LOL)
