why is there no more overhead grab handles

Just wondering if anyone knows a reason why my 2022 stx has no overhead grab handles like every other vehicle on the market?
Do upper trim models come with grab handles above passenger heads ?

The F÷150 hasn't had them in years, due to the side curtain airbags. Come to think of it I can't remember the last time I've seen a car or truck that has them....

All the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, Lexus GX460, Honda Ridgeline, Honda CRV had em latest years for me. But I am new to Ford

I actually miss having them, I always liked resting my elbow on the window opening and holding the handle on longer trips. My wife's VW doesn't have them either seems to be a choice by the different manufacturers.

I am thinking of making a plate and connecting the grab handle above the passenger window. But further away from the curtain airbag if anyone has ideas please chime in

Might be able to fashion a plate along the roof, far enough away from the side curtain, but no idea how you would attach it securely so it would be of any use. Even if you could, how would you know if it would interfere with the airbag?

due to recent improvements in driving, Ford has deleted the passenger side "Jesus strap" and passenger side rosary from 2025 models.

Ok made my own grab handle out of Escalade grab handle and 1/4 thick aluminum 2" by 12" plate with a few more tiny additions. Works great. Far enough from the airbag also and mounting point is above it

sounds like an extremely bad idea. With the force an air bag has, that’s just adding a projectile to the mix

My Wife's 2024 Bronco Sport Badlands has them, so they aren't completely phased out.
