I ordered mine mainly because because of lower cost. After I decided to get a new vehicle I started looking at all vehicles under 50 K new and frankly there wasn't much I liked. Just a endless variety of lower trim SUV's. I wanted to buy American and that further restricted my choices. Especially if you want something cool with a little performance. In all brands of trucks it was hard to find any with a MSRP under 50 K. So looking for the biggest bang for the buck I looked at the RCSB F-150. At Granger's price ($36,050.00 + TTT) I get a lot of the new drivers assist tech I wanted and of course the 5.0. I'm really puzzled why this configuration is not more popular because of lower cost if no other reason. I know I'm not alone in disbelief of high prices.. I really have trouble believing so many people spend well over 60 grand for a truck. I really don't think Ford wants folks to buy a "cheep" truck. And that's why they restrict options and encourage dealers not to stock them except for white work truck strippers. Given the choices of on the lot trucks I think they would be sell much better on price alone. Last year you could get a XLT with carpet but not this year. I wonder if we are seeing the last of regular cab trucks. I'm 70 and I remember when the vast majority of pickups were single cabs. I still feel it's a great vehicle for a lot usage even today.

My '22 XLT only has 9,000 miles and usage will not increase in the coming years. There will be no modifications made, I like my vehicles to remain factory original. Ten years from now I expect to have a creampuff survivor regular cab pickup. Just like my 2005 ZR2 Blazer was when I sold it last fall after owning it for almost 19 years and 92,000 miles. Photo is just prior to sale. Yes, I did well financially on it and expect to be ok on the truck too... thanks in part to the "redheaded step child" regular cab!

I love reg cab trucks. I had 2 Ram 5.7 RC in the past and they were great trucks. I looked at a 24 RC 5.0 at a dealer in ATL but when I added up the price and then what I'd need to spend to make it what I want, it was too much work and money. And, I hate cyl deactivation in anything so that soured me too. But, all 6 of those bare bones RC trucks were sold in less than a week. Apparently, the RC only comes with the 5.0 now that the 3.3 is gone.
So I ended up with what I think is the better all around truck for me- SC STX that has the console and 20 in wheels. I hate the fold down armrest in the base XL so that was a big consideration for me. But RC trucks are just classic in their proportions and "look right" as compared to CC trucks which are very awkward looking with the huge cab and tiny bed.

Been driving RCSBs for over 40 years. My personal vehicle of choice ever since they stopped building El Camino’s and Ranchero’s. Always can jump in one of my 4doors to haul people around. But for myself, a RCSB 4x4 V8 is what I prefer. Gave up my last one, a 2014 Ram to a buddy, for a 2024 F150.

Does anyone know what was the last year you could get a well optioned regular cab? Early 2000's? I do know base prices 10 15 years ago were really low.. like under 20 grand but they were truly strippers with roll up windows etc. I just don't know the history well. I bought a new 1995 XL Super Cab but can't remember exactly what I paid for it.
I think next year we might see a special edition Regular Cab directly from Ford with the 50.. SVT maybe? There's a handful of dealers for the last few years making them Special Editions but there's no Shelby RC for 2024. At $89,000.00 for a non supercharged in 2023 I can see why. One thing for sure is the executives high up in Ford watch every bean and will do whatever they want.

Nice trucks. I really like the look of the Rams (especially with the factory chrome wheels, bumpers and grille) and was looking at them too when I bought my Ford. But I feared I wouldn't be happy with the dial shifter, and preferred the non-rusting aluminum body on the Ford.

I know you haven't had the Ford long but what are your thoughts as to how it compares to the Ram?

Almost identical feel when new. Of course F150 is 10 years newer and technology is accordingly more sophisticated. But Weight and Horsepower are almost dead even. 3.73 vs 3.92 gearing.. 10sp vs 8sp transmissions… make them perform equally. I equipped both with Bilstein suspensions, factory wheels w/upgraded tires, cat back duals etc..Only noticeable difference so far is that I give the Ram an edge on interior space (behind the seat) and the F150 for seat comfort. Ram has held up well, in 10 years and 150k of freeways and ripping trails, with no breakdowns or major issues it’s been a rock. Hopefully the Ford is built as tough..

I looked at Ram for a single cab..The Ford 5.0 12" center screen and dash locker and hitch was the most important options I wanted. But if it wasn't for Granger's discount on a new order I might have kept looking. Plus I know it will hold it's value % wise well. Just 5 grand in mods will transform it.

Mine is a 2022 xlt mid package which was as high as you could go. There is enough room behind the seats for a full grocery cart full of bags. It’s 4x4 6.5 bed 3,73 gear 5.0 . It’s lowered 3/5 drop but it’s not like 80” low rider low. Getting in and out is just right you don’t have to hop up in it or fall down in it. Rocket ship with a bed. Had 47 bags of mulch in it and with the helper bags it didn’t sag at all. Smoked a mustang the other day with a 3000 rpm 4x4 high launch and had 4 sheets of plywood and 20 2x4’s hang out the bed You should seen his face. I wanted a sports car needed a truck and this does both extremely well. I built this for less than half what the shelby’s are going for.. They turn heads and you don’t see a lot of them unless your in Texas where every other one is making 800 hp.

On order ‘22 RCSB.
Like Jmet8 said….

Admittedly it doesn't turn like a sports car but I didn't expect it to.

Ford sold all the real Lightnings they made then people decided they wanted lifted offroad trucks to drive to Starbucks and ford saw dollar signs.
Its the consumers fault that the RCSB is a unicorn.

We for the most part of the forum here are informed customers. But lots of people just go to one or two dealers maybe look at one or two brands and pick one on the lot. If they are NOT there to choose they don't get sold. Not all the staff who order dealer inventory are the brightest bulb in the room..If given a choice 'on the lot' I think more folks will buy them.

A short-bed gives you interior space at the expense of load capacity. A long-bed gives you load capacity at the expense of interior space. A RCSB gives you the worst of both worlds.
Wrong.
Short-bed bed length is 5.5'
Long-bed - 8'
RCSB - 6.5', which is more than enough. Overall length is similar to Maverick's but payload and towing capacity is more than Crew Cab's. As a result we have a very maneuverable truck which you can park anywhere, with good offroad capability and able to tow or haul a lot on curvy mountain roads where longer trucks suffer.

I respect a clean regular cab, I like my STX Supercab better than a Screw because I got a 6.5’ bed and it’s lighter. I’m sitting at 4,600 lbs dry, it’s fast as all can be. I wish they’d bring back the XLT reg cab for you guys.

They are only allowed to sell so many 5.0's now.. and most people order them with the V8 over the 2.7. Basically they are being forced to reduce V8 sales.
Also, many years ago the truck manufacturers went through a whole marketing to promote 4 doors as luxury trucks with premium features for the family so they could sell at a higher price, and the RCSB got a reputation for being "less than". A 14th gen with all of the XLT options and a couple upgrades like the 12" screen makes it the best ride with that wheelbase.

Because today one can purchase a 2wd Screw power boost that has 430hp and 575pound ft of torque that can scare the living crap out of 3 additional friends. Then still pull up to a 12,700 trailer.
