What might cause a sudden steering wheel not centered?

Was on a 1100 mile round trip drive (about 550 up, 550 back). Sometime in the middle of the first leg I noticed that my steering wheel is off center, leaning left. It was always dead on center.
I did not hit anything, not a pothole...nothing, I just noticed that about half way through.
Yes, it does drive me nuts (OCD).
Any idea what might cause the steering wheel to go off center and what's involved in fixing it?

How far off center? Excessive road crown can cause the wheel to be off center to track straight.

Otherwise, a wheel alignment is in your future, as mine was when new.

There is a module that controls steering wheel centering. I was trying to piggyback on a fuse in the box on the passenger side kick panel, and apparently didn’t get back in all the way. My steering wheel shifted from 12 oclock to 2 oclock.

The electric power steering centers the steering wheel. You may need to recenter the module. clear? Maybe relearn center is better.
