Got the BackFlip MX4 (448339) for my ‘21. Can’t get the rails to sit flush. I have to lift them to get the latches to engage. Tried putting them on loose, tight, raised, lowered. Nothing seems to help. Came with the foam wedge already attached. Should I remove that?

Almost looks like too tight on clamps. Did you try switching sides? Maybe clamps line up better to bed?

I don't know how to describe it other than you have to ensure the clamps "click" into place by pushing them up into the top of the MX4 rail. The tip of the clamp wedges into a groove.

Is it installed backwards? The comparison picture shows a different cut-out. Maybe a different model/version?

Thanks... I am thinking that foam wedge isn't needed. Instructions said to use it if your kit came with it but mine were already attached to the rails from the box. Might try one side without it and see. Appreciate the pics.

This guy has some solid content and this was a very helpful video prior to my install.

If you have a bedliner, the liner may need to be notched out in front so the rails fit all the way in. The bedliner can also cause this twist for some reason. The ford drop in bedliners are often misshapen.

I'll also add i've seen some severely bent under rails as well that might also be the cause of this. Not sure how or why they were bent but they were bent.

Don’t remove the foam.

They will sit flush if you take the time to push them and get them there. Ensure the clamp seats in the groove on the inside of the rail.

Without being there, it’s hard to say, but when I was having issues getting mine and installed that was the problem and I had the exact same angle issue you have. Take the time and get some patience and look at the inner half of the clamp. It will mate and it will almost snap into place on the inside of the rail. If it is not in that location, it will not allow the rail assembly to set flush against the bed.

Had to remove the foam just wouldn’t work otherwise. I think I will get a flat strip and make that work it was the wedge that seemed to mess it up
