When driving 80-90 mpg the entire truck shakes. Brought to dealer and they changed 3 of the 4 tires since 3 of them failed road force. Vibration still exists after tires were replaced.

Going to bring back to dealer however wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.

Can you describe the vibration in a little more detail? Knowing where you feel it the most (wheel, seat/floorpan), if it has an accompanying noise, what frequency it is (fast or slow), etc… could help nail down if it’s a wheel, drivetrain, aerodynamic, etc vibration in the absence of a recording.

Absolutely. Thank you for your help.

To put it simply, and just in my experience of working on cars, it definitely feels like a tire imbalance issue. However dealer said, they balanced and checked tires.

Once you hit 80mph the entire truck starts to vibrate. I think, it is from the back of the truck. It might be the 1 tire they did not change which did not fail road force testing OR thats just my mind tricking me into that since the dealer told me they swapped 3 of 4 tires.

You hit 80 it starts, feels like tire imbalance vibration. Entire truck shakes. Theres no shaking in the steering wheel like a tie rod issue. Vibration happens when accelerating or not accelerating.

It is only in the 80-90 mpg range. I haven't gone above 90 to test that.

It is extremely annoying bc i do tend to drive 80 to 85 regularly.

Out of curiosity, did they say they also balanced the one they didn’t replace? Are there any spots where it looks like stick on balance weights may have detached?

I have had a nuisance vibration above 50 mph. I replaced the factory tires and no change. My son-in-law was driving in front of me and he said the spoiler in the front was vibrating noticeably. I removed the active air dam this helped and then I cut off the fixed spoiler up to the hard plastic and this fixed the problem. Removing the active air dam was necessary due to the road conditions I travel on anyways I needed the clearance in the front for snow and sagebrush on my property. I hope this helps.

Drive shaft slightly out of balance or bent is where I'd look next.

I get this over 80, too. Just attributed it to the crappy Hankooks I plan on replacing this year.

But that air dam comment has me intrigued.

I also noticed the fiber Matt cover over the oil pan had the front flap under the cross member. It was hanging down. I loosened the fasteners and tucked the flap above the cross member so it wasn’t hanging down. I did this around the same time I I removed that air dam. After posting the last thread I found a thread that said “ I felt a vibration in the floor and removed the fiberglass cover for the oil pan. I think he was talking about this flexible fiber material. This is like the material found in some of the wheel wells of some pickups. I hope you can solve your problem. I also had a noise coming from the front of the truck like a cavitation of a pump. This was very difficult to replicate. Turned out it was a front hub bearing. This was repaired under the warranty.

While I could see the front air dam maybe causing wind buffetting at higher speeds, that undercarriage piece would be more of a "flapping" than a vibration.

This vibration over 80 mph comes up through the seat of the pants detector, and def feels like it's the rear of the truck (no steering wheel shimmy). Causes of this I've experienced in the past have been bad tires or bent/improperly seated rims, rear axle issue, and even a bad transmission (on a Volvo XC70). I'm hoping it's the garbage hankooks.

Maybe the rear bumper is catching weird air movement under the truck at those speeds, but then I think it would a more of a systemic problem among other trucks here.

Negative. My Hankooks are smooth as butter. Just finished a 1000 mile trip with 87mph dialed in for the cruise control. 39psi seems to be the sweet spot for mileage and handling.

I had something very similar. Stock 20 hankooks. Dealer balanced and rebalanced, checked alignment. Dealer would do something say it’s fixed I would take the truck away and vibration was still there.

Anyway after doing this 3 times they replaced all 4 tires under warranty. Smooth as butter since.

Very true. Anecdotal evidence with a sample size of 4 tires lol. Just like the next guy’s Michelin Defenders that never fail him.

Bingo. I've had bad tires from Conti, Michellin, and Bridgestone in the past. Sometimes they just aren't made right regardless of brand.

I bad mouth these because I am unhappy with their performance overall, not just a potential vibration, but that's for a different thread...
