Well, maybe... But keep in mind that you'd need to upgrade all other drivetrain components at the same time, axles, propeller shafts, IWEs. The load carrying ability of the drive train is matched. Given that you could research these components and see if the Ford part numbers are different or the same as currently in your truck. If the same... you're home free! Can you upgrade the 10R80 in the F-150 to the 10R100 used in the F-250 ??
don’t even believe this would be possible. The 10R100 could except the electric motor the powerboost’s 10R80MHT has. The transmissions themselves are quite different.Sure would be nice to do on a Powerboost, but you know the heavy modifications that would take if it would even be possible.
10R80 are good, especially post 2023. Just change the fluid early and often and it will go 100s of thousands of miles. My point and therefore question on a transmission upgrade is reliability. I've had six Jeeps. I order them the way I want and run them for at least 200K. My current 2015 Rubicon Hardrock has over 210K. It's incredibly reliable. Has the original clutch, trans. axles, ball joints and I run 35" tires. I haven't any experience with the 10R80, .. yet. But, I'm anticipating that I may have issues with it.
Simplicity - that is a wonderful and real advantage of vehicles from the good ol' days!I was just thinking. Like in the old days. If I blew up my turbo 350, I'd swap in a turbo 400. Same bellhousing bolt pattern. Maybe have to modify drive shaft length. If it were possible not to upgrade the F-150 axles and just swap a 10R80 for a 10R100.
