Upgrade 401a to 402a?

Hey yall... I've just had the idea of upgrading my 2021 tremor with a 401a package to a new 2025 402a package. Possibly opting for the 5.0 instead of my 3.5EB.

Am I just crazy, or is it worth the $$ to upgrade?

With the pricing nowadays I don't think it's worth it. If you were looking to move to a Raptor or different trim altogether, I could get on board with that.

For a tiny fraction of the cost, you can just get the upgrades you want and put them on your truck. The grass is not greener on the 25 side.

You've basically got an XLT right now and given parts availability you can easily do just about whatever want for fractions of the price of buying a new truck. You can tune your truck real easy as well if you want more power (even though a 5.0 is less power than 3.5 stock for stock)

401a to a 402a well :
Does leather interior matter to you ? Yes, 402a will get you that (you could get a catskin set for your current truck though...)

Do you tow a lot? the 3.5 is better towing engine, the 5.0 is better otherwise.

Do you live where it snows? the 402a gets the 4Auto so that's a huge plus over the 401a

Does your current truck have the torsen front differential? have to get a 402a in 2025 to get that

Otherwise your just talking a couple of cosmetic changes, so depending on options you currently have, you'll spend an extra 15-20k for a newer different looking truck. Personally I like the 21-23 tremors over the 24-25's. and at the price they are they should be modified platinum grill, not modified XLT grills.. but that's my 2cents. Ultimatly the 'worth' all comes down to you.

401 has leather trim, just not full and not H/C (easy fix). The hi-lock transfer case is easy to install giving 4a of 402. All of that can be had for ~$3500 or less depending on what's available at any given time.
