Yesterday while at the Ford dealer, walked out and looked at the 2025 window stickers. Noticed the 2025 F150 Lariat had an up-charge of $495 for a one year Bluecruise Equipment subscription, did not see an up-charge on the XLT’s. Is Ford thinking go after the Luxury crowd they can afford it?

This is just a change from 2024 when you could get a 90-day free trial or purchase a three-year subscription for $2,100.

In 2025, there will be no free trial, and any F150 equipped with the Blue Cruise parts/software automatically includes this $495 one-year subscription. From what I see on the Build and Price it cannot be removed.

Per the Ford 2025 F-150 Order Guide Lariat gets a 90 day trial or optional 1 year up front subscription. King ranch and Platinum come standard with 1 year Bluecruise. XLT and lower trims have no trial and require a paid subscription up front to have Bluecruie.

In the Build and Price for a KR and Platinum it doesn't show. It is only 1-year, no 90-day trial available as you can't remove the 1-year option.

I stand corrected, looks like 1 year standard on KR and Platinum and 90 day trial only standard on Lariats.

Me too. If you get a Lariat you can choose a 90-day trial. If you go up to the KR or Platinum you are STUCK with a 1-year subscription! :cautious:

I don't get Ford's thinking on this, a 90 day trial on an already equipped truck in my opinion is a good sales tool.

2021 XLT Screw 5.0,4x4,302Asport,
Ram is charging $300 a year. But if you don't cough up, you have no CC at all. None.

I don't like the way this is going.

GM SuperCruise is $25 per month or $250 per year with trailering and has 400,000 miles of roads covered vs. BlueCruise has 130,000 miles of roads covered. (The maps are a little embarrassing for Ford.)

Thanks everyone for your input. Was thinking it’s just wrong for to Ford force the Bluecruise subscription up-charge on the higher trim models.

Yes, maybe Google helped map those extra miles with GM SuperCruise. For the folks that don’t have Apple Car play or Android Auto, you get a free eight year subscription of Google maps integrated in the infotainment, with a new GM car purchase.

I am still in the 90 day trial on my 2024 Lariat in Canada. It’s good, but not a necessity at all, and not even that useful most of the time. In Canada the annual cost as of today is CAD$650 per year or CAD$64.99/mo. I won’t buy in at that price. But if I am going on a long road trip, I might buy it for a month for the trip. And if the price goes up, I probably won’t use it at all. I don’t like the concept of OEMs turning on and off features like this.

Agree, won’t buy it either.
Most of our driving is in a rural area.
Have to admit, that it was kind of fun at first "Look No Hands” …lol!

GM's supercruise works on roads with stoplights but shuts down when you approach the intersection (basically turns into radar cruise control w/out lane centering). We've got a road now with some added stoplights recently and it will blow through a red light so heads up on that for anyone using it.

The 90 day trial period is almost up on my 24 KR, and I will not be ponying up the 495 bucks for a year subscription. I have used the BC a few times, it is cool and all, but not $495 a year cool, for me at least. And not that many roads are BC compatible up here in the sticks anyway, so it would only be used once in a while. I do like the adaptive cruise control, that is way more useful for the type of driving I do.

I'm glad I wasn't forced to pay the $495 upcharge on my truck for the BC, that would have been a waste of money for a feature I seldom use.

I really despise the way the automakers are going with this "subscription for everything" BS. At least so far anyway, we are lucky that Ford hasn't forced us to pay to use features that we have already paid for, like the heated and ventilated seats, remote start, etc. Some manufacturers make you pay a subscription to use already installed options. I would be infuriated if Ford suddenly decided to do some "software update" to turn off my heated seats, heated steering wheel, remote start, adaptive cruise, etc., and only re-enable them if I pay a monthly or annual subscription.

I'm afraid that in a few years, many more new cars and trucks will be set up this way. Subscriptions to be able to use popular and well liked features will be a massive goldmine that the automakers will want to tap into.

I bought a 22 hybrid that came with a 3 year subscription. I definitely won't renew it. But it woukdcrealky piss me off if I didn't renew it and lost the simple cruse control like I think I read about super cruse.
I am super spoiled after I bought open pilot. It had far superior auto pilot back then. It doesnt rely on any approved roads. Hands off on any road. Gravel, two lanes, excellent speed control, excellent stop and go and perfect lane centering along with lane change.

It cost me 1000 and requires no subscription.

Now the bad side. Ford encryption of the data buss stops it working in 2024 and up. And it only works on trucks that came with 360 and adaptive cruse. But alot if people have added these features. There is a great group that helps with this.
That's not a bad thing because I always buy second hand. By the time I cant get a super low mile 23 I think there will be a work around.

Ford had competition with open pilot so they couldn't justify the cost of the subscription and bluecruse was and still so limited in what it does compared to open pilot but now that they have eliminated the competition in 24 and up I think they can get away with these stupid high priced subscription.

The only way I'm ever going to get bluecruse if I buy a new truck is negotiating out a 3 year subscription. Treat it as a bed liner or piss proofing the seats. lol

Im disparaged at how ford is deleting some of the cool stuff. Auto park assist, auto trailer hitch alignment. Ect
2022 hybrid platinum was the last year that they offered up the most technological advanced trucks. Now they are dumbing down.
If you owned a 22 and now a 25 you will understand.

Going foward I can see ford and others turning many things we love into subscriptions. Like remote start, comfort groups. There are apps that can turn these features back on. There are other cool features that I can access that were not turned on when I got the truck that I could activate with apps like forscan. Intelligent head lights are one. That removes the high beam just on the upcoming car and the rear view mirrors of cars in front. Canada trucks had that feature but in the US it was not adopted.
I love technological shit. So much so I don't mind the failure rate. I bought dealer diagnostic tools and do my own warranty covered repairs just so I don't have to remove the changes I made when I bring it in for oil and recalls.
