Pick up from Plant option?

Some manufacturers allow you to pickup from the factory. Does Ford have that option? I could save weeks in delivery and maybe the Destination charge.

What manufacturers allow pick up from the plant? Part of the destination charge is the cost of it going down the assembly line also if the dealership was next door to the factory it would be the same charge.

BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche....I'm not sure about American vehicle manufacturers

Pickup from the plant is not an option from Ford, from everything I've read. Remember the dealerships are the real customers from the plant until the dealership finalizes sale to you.

So who does the PDI (pre dealer inspection)?
So do these manufactures that are in the US do this also.

Didn't the TFL truck guys pick up the first Ram TRX directly form the factory? I remember them driving it across country East coast to Boulder Colorado.

No, they were picked up from the dealership next to plant. Arranged by Ram of course.

Corvettes can be picked up at the Museum but as stated above pay the dest charge and I believe an addl charge as well.

That price is for going down the assembly line also and the dealership lobbyist has a lot of power and money.
