Truck won't recognize external CD player as an audio device.

I have a known good (checked on my and my Wife's computers) external CD player.

Plugged it into the USB port in the under dash cubby and it only recognizes it as a charge only device.

Hit the source button in the audio section and there is no USB source to choose from.

I've been through the owners manual but source choice is about as far as it goes on the subject.

I've tried it in accessory mode, engine on, plugged in before and after, with the CD already loaded and not.

Is there a secret handshake?

I don't have any music loaded to thumb drives but I guess I could try that.

CD player or CD/DVD-ROM drive? I'm pretty sure the truck won't recognize computer peripherals to play CDs.

Correction. Back says DVD ROM drive.

But its clearly designed as a portable device.

Won’t work. Need a device that was built specifically for this purpose. A few people on here have had success with devices from Amazon like this:

That device you have is for computers that support drivers for such devices. Your truck has no way to download a driver for your device.

get this one on Amazon, once you plug it in and load a cd Aux will appear in your sources also says cataloging music or something like that at the top of the screen. click aux and enjoy.

Heard that one works, but the one I posted is verified on my 2023. look at my post above reply, I am playing a cd with the device that I linked above. Cheers wanna help my Ford F-150 Bro's. Plus the big white face on that model don't look as clean with the dark interior.
