Truck puts itself in park

So yesterday I backed my truck up into the bump out in my driveway and I opened the door to make sure I didnt hit my shop and then gave it the gas and it didn't go anywhere. I looked at my shifter and it was back in park. Tried again and looked at the shifter and sure enough it put itself in park if I opened my door and tried to go in reverse. Would love to know if I could change this feature.

I have read that if you have your seatbelt on it won't do it. Not sure if it's true or not

FYI...Another little tidbit for you to ponder........ Mine also puts on the park brake if the truck is still moving, even slightly. When I pull out of my garage and put the truck into park with little pressure on the brake petal, sometimes on comes the park brake.

I think that is an option you can turn off. It has something to do with the trailer tow options I think.
