The subject is old and my response borders on wearisome repeat, but.....

I have 8 years total experience with 3 different Powerboost.
2021 - 4+ years (still in use, company owned)
2021 - 1 year
2022 - 3+ years (still in use, personal ownership)

Total problems = 1 sheared MaxTow axle bolt. Zero drama repair

And although a forum by its very nature is a place for problems to be discussed, I personally don't see the evidence that the Powerboost is statistically a serious issue gamble. Best 1/2 ton truck I've ever owned. Wouldn't hesitate fetching another. And I am far from alone on that, regardless of the noise that can be generated around here at times.

"PowerBeast" - our 2021 F150 Lariat 4x4 Powerboost
2021 Lariat 501A Screw 4x4 Powerboost with PPoB.

47,000 miles. 10,000 or so of that towing our 21" Lance 2185 travel trailer (5,000 Lbs loaded for the road) out here in the mountainous West.

A few recalls that did not affect me. A soggy rear taillight was replaced under warranty.

That and oil changes.

Even the original 12v battery is still going strong. ??

Tows like a dream, kills it on the mountain passes, comfortable for the long haul, and we can run the trailer's AC (and wife's blow dryer ?) while boondocking in the middle of beautiful nowhere!

So far, it is the best vehicle I have owned!

'21 Lariat, now 40,000 miles. A long, lonely campaign to get the heat exchanger leak corrected under drive train warranty -- but eventually successful. My 'white paper' is in another thread on that topic for others' benefit. Very happy in every other respect, would purchase again.

Unfortunate that you had to campaign hard to get it covered under warranty. I know there's some Grey area for which portion of the various coverages might apply, but for SURE it's NOT the 3/36 bumper to bumper category.

I see our Power Boost has again been rated as unreliable. I’ve had mine for 14 months and 14000 miles without a single issue. Two friends have Toyota hybrid pickups. Both have had at least 5 recalls. So I was wondering how many problems or recalls have the members here have had.

I’ve had my ‘21 PB for almost 4 yrs and 40,000 miles and had one right rear window issue under warranty and that was it , no mechanical issues at all and it gets great gas milage just as advertised and probably better than that if I lived in the south, I live in Minnesota. My year around milage pushes 25 and I’ve recorded every drop of gas that's ever gone into it. But there is a technique and getting good mileage on a hybrid. But I have a friend with a ’24 PB and he gets lousy mileage…? talespin

Well, the mileage these trucks get is counterintuitive… I find the more stop and go that I get into on my commute, the better the MPGs. Obviously the electric power is kicking in a lot more. This is strange coming from a non-hybrid truck where I got much worse mileage in stop and go. I also still use the EV Coach on my screen to help keep it in electric as much as I can. Then of course we have the major variables, such as modding our trucks.

It's an odd Hybrid, since the vast majority of Hybrids are vehicles that aren't exactly gas guzzlers in the first place. I suspect if other big heavy thirsty vehicles were offered as a mild but legitimate Hybrid, they would exhibit similar traits.

But Ford doesn't even hype the Powerboost as a Hybrid. Not a single emblem or decal inside or out that even suggests it's a Hybrid. No way was that some oversight. 100% deliberate.

22 PB with 20K miles on it.

Only major issues to date are a leaking heat exchanger, failed rear end (3/4 float and replaced under warranty then had recall axle replacement) and leaking rear slider window (replaced under warranty).

Also had the rear cargo camera replaced under warranty which took nearly 10 hours of coding due to persistent DTC codes in the IPMA.

Much better luck than my neighbor's Tundra. 2023 with barely 11K on it and has already had the engine replaced twice. First time under the recall and the 2nd one lasted less than 600 miles before it chucked a rod out the side of the block when he was backing out of his driveway. He's also had transmission issues with it starting in 2nd gear a number of times, exterior trim come loose and the parking brake refusing to disengage. He's currently battling Toyota to get them to do a buy back on it now.

Just had the rear slider window done on mine - unfortunately didn't notice it for a few months and she got really moldy in the back.

Dealership replaced the window, the carpet, and the underlay under warranty though so that was nice.

After reading all the no problems I think refusing the extended warranty on my ‘25 powerboost was a good decision. It’s the only vehicle I have ever even considered an extended warranty. Starting the powerboost journey 6/19/25. Wish me luck!
You've got 3/36 to actually decide. After that, the decision becomes one.

I have a '24 PB with 12k miles on it. I have had no issues with the motor. My gas mileage is as advertised. It's not considered a hybrid by OH's standards as they charge more for plates for a hybrid and I wasn't charged any more than what I was charged for my '21 3.5 Eco. I would buy it again if I could do it all over again.
