I have a 2022 f150 platinum hybrid.
I have recall and the p2022 code. I went in to setup service with my local Ford dealer. The earliest they can get a diagnosis is Dec 1st.
Then the service manager said unless the parts are available before Jan 1st they won't service hybrids or ev. Said something to the effect that unless they invest a million dollars in tools and training they won't work on them.
Is that a line of bs or is ford forcing dealers to change?

I called all three dealerships in a 100 mile radius and they all refused to work on my truck. Non of them will take orders for new EV or hybrids.
My recall is wiper motor and the code is for the heat exchanger.

I'm stuck with a truck that no one will work on.
What's up?

I'm pretty sure that if you purchase a franchise license for a brand, first, nobody held a gun to your head to take on the responsibility to represent the brand.
Two, you don't get to tell the manufacturer what they can invent and produce and offer to the consumer.

If you can't or won't support the product line, then sell and move on.

The industry is such a mess right now.
And what is the $1 million tool that is necessary to repair an exhaust heat exchanger? I'm no mechanic and I assure you that I could perform the task.

I think the statements about some 1 million dollars investment is bogus. I think that the dealerships are so over worked and under trained there is no chance to get our trucks repaired unless we originally bought from them. They can decide who to service.
Yes I can repair the heat exchanger but why should I? I bought ford's esp insurance. I also have recalls to be preformed. Both dealerships said they will preform them but as far as the heat exchanger no dice.
I'm also getting some camera issues that's showing up in my scan. Fat chance they will look into that.

The one dealership said they are going to stop repairing any ev trucks.
The other said I can't get a tech scan for 4 months. They won't take my word for about the heat exchanger.
All I wanted to know is if the heat exchanger needs replaced do they have access to parts and how long to get replaced. Instead of out right blowing me off they said no discussion until they do their own scan. 100.00 no matter what. And they won't do a diagnostic for 4 months. Litter nicer way to say I'm not interested.
My problem is unless the dealership is large they probably won't have anyone trained to diagnose these high tech trucks.

Well, just to provide a bit of a counterpoint. I recently moved to Colorado from Utah. The local dealer here actually has a mobile service option, and recently sent out that guy to take care of a couple of the recall items. They contacted me to ask if they could do this! Was great service. So at least in one place, things are still the way they should be.

Where are you located?

That is very curious because Ford is actually boosting production of these vehicles in 2024+.

I just purchased a 10 year 100k esp warranty from Granger. Great price. I really didn't need that long but each year update was only couple hundred more.
I hope I didn't waste my money.

Hey snakebitten. Do you know of any discussions about how to fix the p2c22. I read somewhere about what part to fix. I don't have leaks. Just the reduced power issues every do often.
I tried to clear a couple codes that came up. I put a new sound system in and I'm getting codes for the front speakers. I have the obelisk mx+. It won't reset any codes. In fact it really doesn't do much.
I have a mongoose cable and kind of remember how to connect to fdrs. Is there any way or software that I can use to do better diagnostic with this?
I haven't messed with the mongoose for months.
I have forgotten all the capabilities.

If P2C22 is what I think it is, it's the more serious of the 2 exhaust heat exchanger maladies. The leaking exhaust heat exchanger issue is usually far less expensive to address. So inexpensive that you might choose to address it yourself rather than deal with the dealership even if under warranty.

If the truck has a persistent faulty Exhaust Heat exchanger valve, Ford hasn't come up with a remedy other than total replacement of the assembly. That's not inexpensive, although the task itself isn't really challenging.

You would replace what this gentleman is holding in his hands, rather than just the 2 $5 plastic tubes circled.

Sports technology...
"Like I have repeated over and over and am ridiculed by fanboys, Ford Dealers are by and large fed up with the PB platform it’s quite simple. PB values are far lower than the identical unit non PB"

Is it possible that your ridiculed because you complain too much? I love my powerboost.

Does anyone have the part number of that assembly? I want to be armed with the knowledge of part availability when I finely find a shop that does the diagnostic work.
I have been lied to in the past saying parts are on backorder or in the case of my out if warranty trucks price gouging. I needed a new ipma for my 2011 f150
I got the full retail price from Ford. Something like 700.00. When I got a quote just to have it done during a unrelated repair. "Tail gate opening while driving" the shop quoted me 1200.00 fir the exact same part I could have bought directly from Ford.

Then side note. When I said something to effect of your ripping me off... Just do the tailgate repair. They had me bring the truck in the morning. At 4:30 they called to say that they worked on it all day and can't find the problem. Not only did forward ford's fix it instructions but I advised them that I have a cellular auto start/alarm in the truck that sends me notifications of every start the truck does. So I said unless you guys floated the truck into the service bay your fucking lying.
Service manager said that's the story he got from his tech. I stood my ground and asked for the tech. He said that he got held up by a previous job. Fair enough that shit happens. So why didn't you just say that instead of saying you worked on it all day? I said I assumed you will be billing me for hours you didn't perform?
The tail gate repair was not a recall but a customer pasification thing. No charge. I think the dealership was trying to bill Ford for hours.
The actual repair was listed at 30 min and a new tailgate switch harness.
So I'm down two local dealerships out of three that can or will possibly work on my hybrid.

Sadly, that service tail is far too common. I'm old, so I remember when a story like that would be RARE, and the community that surrounded the business would shun such a business tactic. It'd be corrected or business would dry up.

Well I'm sure going to post some negative reviews about the dealership that's going to ditch EV vehicles.

Owner, IT Consulting\MSP company.
I've owned two EcoBoosts and now a Powerboost, ironically I wasn't shopping for a PB, but trying to find an AM Blue, 157" Platinum with MCS and HSW was like a Unicorn so I bought it.
I won't ever go back to EB. I get 23.8mpgs per gallon and have already used the Genie twice to power multiple items in my home.
For someone who doesn't own a PB you sure complain about it alot... Kind of reminds me of the kid who couldn't date the hot chick in school, he would always say, "Meh she's a b**** and ugly..."
Hehhe

@Spiffy document your service requests and their denials with emails. If and when the truck blows up, tow it in and have them buy you a new one...
