I looked around for an F-150 bug and rock deflector and there are a number of them. However they all state "Not For Tremor". I have a Lariat F-150 with the BAP coming and the BAP comes with a Tremor style hood.

Has anyone been able to find one of these for this Tremor hood?

I bought a roll of Track Armor tape for the long ride (1100 miles) home from Granger Iowa, but that deflector would still be a worthy consideration.

If you see the date of this post, that is when I started looking. I have had a number of instances from this date of me, or others, being told maybe in a few months or next quarter.

I hope this is the case but I will not hold my breath. :)

HA! Thanks for replying to the thread and telling us what you heard. It is still relevant regardless of the date.

I have my hopes up that it will actually happen but with hearing that it is right around the corner for for a couple of years, sadly I am not optimistic. :(

It looks like WeatherTech just released one for “unique hood” which looks like the Tremor hood. $80 and I just ordered one. I’ll post how it goes after install!

I ordered one too. It is nice and it is not a hard plastic like the others, it is like a "flexible" plastic. My hope is the has some spring to it if a rock hits it.

Last weekend it was a wind storm here so I could not install it. I will do it this weekend and post back how it went.

It is nice and my only nit pik is that I wished it came up a little higher, but it is nice to be able to get one regardless.

That’s awesome to hear, do you have any pictures or could you post some after installing? I’m very happy someone finally made this!

I was finally able to get mine installed. It is "bendy" and rubbery and that is both a blessing and curse. :)

It comes with 2 full strips of 3M tape on the top and bottom. You kind of line it up centered and tape a hinge to the bottom of the hood. This lets you somewhat center it and be to flip it back and forth. I started at the center of the tape and pulled them to the sides. I did about 2 feet of the tape exposed. I then flipped it up with that tape hinge and this is the tricky part. You have to eyeball it with a gap at the bottom of the hood and look twice before you make your commitment. Your center commitment will determine the rest of the install.

If you have it centered and the gap at the bottom of the hood is consistent, then you press from the center out to the ends to make the seal "hard". However once you touch the hood with that tape, that is where it is going. Take you time lining it up before you touch down. You can make minor adjustments along the way but that is it. This stuff sticks like nothing else and I could not see removing it once it was stuck without possibly breaking the deflector.

Then with the center down continue to pull the stripping off the tape and press down that next section as you work your way out to the sides of the truck. If your gap is tilted one way you can correct it to some degree but not very much. I had to do this and I think most people will too. You can see in some of the pictures the hood gap at the bottom and the variance. One of the pictures is below the hood and that makes it look far worse than when you look straight at it. Check your OCD at the door if this will bother you or wait for something else. (I checked mine at the door) :)

The last picture is more straight on, and it is hard to see any variance.

Overall this is very nice and offers a lot more protection than before. I do wish it came up higher into the curvature of the hood but I can see why it does not. It would have made installation far more difficult to get exact due to the "drain tracks" of the hood and it could have been a real problem. It does cover the main section and comes up 3.5 inches in the main section of hood.

Excellent! Thanks for the pictures and the walk-thru. Very helpful!

Given that there is a full 3M strip along the top and bottom of the deflector, it sounds like there would be minimal water intrusion. Does it seal well specifically at the drain tracks that run down the hood?

Mine had a full solid strip of that tape from the center area of the deflector to the edges and that made a solid piece along the top at those drain sections. I do think there could be ways for water to sneak in at other places, but that area was solid. A nice firm press and it is stuck there. I think removal will require you to break the deflector as the bond of the tape is stronger than the unit.

With that said if you are familiar with Weathertech the products they make are pliable and rubbery and this is not much different. Just my opinion but I like this a lot as I think it will have some spring to it should a rock hit it. That might prevent it from cracking of breaking.

@Kodiak thank you so much for the detailed description and pictures! Do you have a further back picture of it fully installed? I’m looking forward to mine arriving now!

I might look into this for my Lariat. I tried the AVS one last year and it actually shattered while trying to reposition it during install. I like the idea of softer material.
