It's not internal and it hangs off the driver side of the transmission. It's a plate heat exchanger which functions both as a heater and cooler with coolant lines running to it. Plate heat exchangers are actually one of the most efficient ways to cool something.
I stand corrected.

Good morning,

Yesterday I took my 2022 PowerBoost into the dealership because of a low vibration/hum at 1500–1900 RPM, occurring at any speed and in any gear as long as the engine was engaged. It only happens briefly and when the gas is barely pushed. The technician was able to duplicate the issue and performed a known TSB (Technical Service Bulletin).

During the post-test, they found erratic shift patterns, torque converter shudder (which they identified as the low vibration/hum mentioned above), and have 100% recommended a complete transmission replacement at a cost of $11,500. They explained this is because the torque converter is internal to the transmission.
Could I ask you to elaborate a bit on the vibration/hum and the TSB performed?

I get a buzz or reverberation around 1400 rpm and light throttle. Really basically lugging the truck. I suspect it might be the fuel tank skid plate as it makes a similar sound when I tap it with my hand. But I’m now wondering if I need to have it looked at.

sorry to hear too. I hate these stories. I feel like an $11k transmission is almost a crime. It’s a Ford.

I have a '22 Tremor, same issue. The dealer I took it to said it was the torque converter as well. They have ordered new parts and plan to replace it. I asked another dealer about replacing the torque converter on a transmission that have over 125k miles and he said it would not be a problem. I do have the extended warranty up to 150k miles. I think I would ask about having just the torque converter replaced and see what that costs.

When a torque converter goes bad it does not send metal through the transmission every time. Them stating you need a new transmission is a little premature in my opinion. I would drop the pan and look for any metal down there. If its clean swap the TC and carry on.
