Hi Everyone,

How easy is it to temporarily disable the front active air valance from lowering? Hoping it’s not too much effort to unplug the motors. Mine is getting stuck in the lowered position on the top air valance. Taking the truck to the dealer to have them look at it, but my appointment won’t be for a couple weeks.

Will unplugging the motors cause an issue when they’re reconnected?

Thanks!

I had the Ford dealer leave mine disconnected when they seemed to be unable to correct the problem. No problem yet, but I'm sure it's logging fault codes but no CEL.

Good to know, thanks. I’ll temporarily disable the valance this weekend when I change the oil and oil filter.

Pardon my ignorance, but which model has this Active Air Valance and when does it open/close?

Thanks.

I think it's all models, and deploys at about 40mph

To update the thread, after doing some more researching and (unintentionally) waiting around for warmer weather, I was able to get the front air valence working again. It no longer gets stuck on the rubber from the fixed piece.

Ford is supposed to be replacing the lower air valence under warranty, but the part hasn’t arrived yet. I thought while I waited I’d do some more research into the issue. Found a thread on the F150forums where a member has a 21 F150 with a stuck movable air valence like mine and they were able to straighten it out by using a heat gun (post #48 in link below). It gave me an idea to have a second look at the valence on my truck as it had a bow outward in the plastic during the winter where it was getting stuck when retracting. Sadly I didn’t get a photo of the valence after I removed it from the truck. The valence sat in my garage for a month while I waited for the warrantied part to arrive.

Fast forward to today I notice the bow was gone and the part looked factory again. Also the rubber on the fixed piece was able to be straightened. I put the movable valence on the truck, went for a drive (yes above 45 mph), it’s not getting stuck. Ran some errands and same result, working as designed.

Only conclusion I can draw from this is when it’s cold out the rubber on the unmovable top piece can bend inward if you hit something causing the moveable part to get stuck when retracting. Suppose I may need to remove the lower (moveable) piece during winter then install it once spring arrives. Not ideal when the truck is this expensive, but it will work while I save up to add the Tremor skid plate.

It would also be nice to be able to temporary lower it so I could clean it during a wash
