This has happened like 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I walk out to my truck in the morning and the tailgate is down. First I thought I may have hit the open button while remote starting. Last 2 times I have not remote started truck. Anyone have any ideas? This just started happening.

Theres a recall
There is not a recall, its listed as a warranty extension now, the dealership told me I have to pay $200 for a diagnostic, I said I don't need one, its doing exactly what Ford says the issue is, why pay for diagnostic. They couldn't care less, More of Fords Fyou pay bs.

You have to have an "... affected vehicles that exhibit the covered condition." In order to do that, they need to perform diagnosis.

TSBs and CSPs are not free from cost. If they perform diagnosis and your vehicle does NOT exhibit that covered condition, are you going to pay them their diagnostic fee?

Is there someone on the side of the road with a staff and long beard hollering, "Pharaoh! Let my cargo go!" ?

🤔

This involves a complete tailgate rewire as the wiring harness is said to be poorly protected underneath getting hit by moisture and shorting out. Also they reprogram it to need a double button tap on the fob as added insurance against people thinking it is still happening and coming back in.

I had it done and haven't had the issue again. It is a 3-plus year old service campaign so I'm surprised to hear of people with 2023 and up builds still seeing this.
